I'm kinda on the wall on this one. On the one hand, I think it would be great to see some old mates. On the other hand I went to a snooty school where i get the feeling everyone will probably be there to show off something, be it money, arm candy or the fact that they're not bald (it was an all boys school).

my friend and i were joking that we would rent a ferarri, a couple of hookers and show up in mafia running suits. i know everyone will show up in their shined up luxury cars in their best church suits, carefully parted hair

so what should i do. i dont want to go to this thing if im gonna end up feeling bad about myself. what do you guys think? have you been to yours? should i go?

If I still lived in that general area, I'd probably go to at least one. But I never really kept in touch with most of the folks, and I'm more than halfway across the content now, so there's no way.

I didn't go to mine, and I really don't feel I've missed anything.

I didn't go to my prom either, and I can't say as I feel lessened in any way.

I didn't really like any of those people then, so why would I bother to spend any time with them now?

I had quite a few friends, but most of us didn't stay in touch after the first few years, so, yeah... this is basically how I feel. If you enjoy the show and tell quality, then, have at it, but basically it has a sort of.... insecure, competitive feel to it. I'm sure someone could do it with a pure heart, just genuinely happy to catch up once every five or ten years -- my psychological profile says I've got a more stern definition of "friend" than your average person -- so maybe it's good for people who can go years at a time without contact and still be "friends."

not even a little curiosity, peachy?

adcdefz, you must've enjoyed high school to consider it from across the country

$10million gucci rings and hookers sounds tempting... show up all drunk & obnoxious with a bottle of champagne in one hand and a fat cigar in the other.

...my point is that, since I'm not even in the same city, there's NO WAY I'd consider it. Heck, if I was more than an hour away, I don't think I'd go.

No, not really.

It's not like I hate them all or have any ill will towards any of them, I just don't feel like any of them have anything to do with my life. So I just don't care.

Everytime I go to the bar in my hometown, it's the same as going to a high school renunion.

Honestly, I really can't believe it. Most of the people who seemed the most likely to excel at life, be it honor role and sports, have done nothing but stay single and still live in a small town going nowhere.

was and the term mercenary, I worked as a contractor for a private security firm.

I don't really think it was considered cool at all. It has done nothing but pull me from a deep debt which was created by my previous ex wife.

It meant spending time far away from my daughter, missing out on seeing her grow up during the most precious years of her life and so on.

Nerd up. Same here.

Anyone that I wanted to keep in contact with....I did. Its not that I didn't really like any of the people...I just didn't and don't give a fuck about them.

You should go there.

My 10th reunion was last year, and I thought it would be all
about "my job, my car, my spouse". But it was really nice,
just a big party with loads of beer and it was definitely fun
to see most of the old mates... (y)

I don't go to reunions. If I want to keep up with people, I will & I don't need to do that over bacon wrapped hotdogs at a Best Western Grand Ballroom.

I really enjoyed the 10-year reunion. There were a few high school crushes showing me the attention I wanted 10 years before. Lots of craziness ensued and for a good month I "reconnected" with some of the old crew.

Didn't go to the 20-year, though. Family, work, kids, health all kind of got in the way. The sad part was only about 50 people out of 400 showed up. Plus my buddy who eats bologna sandwiches organized it. :o

Your Gotti-fantasies sound like you should go and re-live your youth.

Since you went to an all boys school, I would say no. To me the only good thing about reunions is nailing a couple of skanks that used to think that they were too good for you.Once again, closemindedness rears it's ugly head.

i've been in 3 high schools, 2 in detroit and 1 in richmond... by the time i attended the last one i was already in 11th grade so i really didn't make friends, nor did i want to cuz i never wanted to move here... i've been stuck in this bitch ever since and wanna get the hell outta here before my 10th reunion comes up... everything is so damn expensive nowadays with $3/ gallon worth of gas and and rent soaring i don't know how the hell i can get back up north again... anyways, back on the topic of reunions, definately go dressed as a mobster... that would be hilarious and scary at the same time so your classmates won't know whether to laugh or panic!!

for anyone thinking about attending a school reunion, remember your family reunions as a precaution...(!)

Noooo!
I promised a rather cute girl which organized the shit to attend (almost a 300 mile drive). Instead I got wasted, went into a club and met my current girlfriend. And we've been happy for more than 9 months now....

what'd you mean. i wanted to do that only to mock those who people who are there to show off.

I had some teachers that i wanted to bone. one of them weighs like 300 pounds now, but my old latin teacher is still pretty hot.

i saw pictures of past reunions and everyone wears the most uptight suits. im thinking if i go, im gonna rock the jeans sneakers tee shirt blazer steez... or maybe the mafia tracksuit thing really isnt such a bad idea.

i went and it was a lot of fun. everyone i would want to see was there and it was good to be back in my old school. weirdest thing: this guy who was the biggest truant/ghetto-hoodie-unarticulate guy turned out to be a successful financial guy. the charmer/womanizing/class clown is bald old and run down looking. the guy who still looked/sounded 12 when we graduated still looks/sounds 12. the loudmouthed/hothead/fighter dude is now a vp of some financial thing. a pothead friend is now a clean cut teacher at some prestigious school... he actually seemed very happy... at the same time people looked content but i didnt talk to anyone else who really seemed happy or proud of themselves. is that modesty? the teachers pet is now a teacher there. the little guy who used to stutter is like 6'2 and is well spoken. the fat lovable computer geek is a fatter computer technitian. he was happy with the catering. i dunno... i didnt really feel it from anyone. alas there was a very good vibe in the place and everyone seemed happy to see one another. there were a few funny moments where it felt like we were all in high school again. the president of the school went up to speak and there were a few moments where he sorta got heckled. he said how it now costs twice as much to go to this school and got a roar of boos and laughs. i dont think the guy expected that and looked kind of nervous. he was probably thinking half of us wouldnt be in the room if we had to pay that much... riff-raff. i ended up a @ bar with a group and im not sure how i got home. ive heard from a bunch of em and itll be good to get to know em again. so yeah, glad i went.
