I have decided is the most entertaining film of all time. The other day whilst recovering from a hangover, me and a mate sat watching it and laughed the whole way through. It has everything. Possibly one of the highest joke-per-minute rates of any film, good music, good car chases, Nazis, Carrie Fisher firing a rocket launcher at a building and Ray Charles firing a handgun at a child.

unbeatable.

Its got the 2 best lines in the history of film:

John Candy - "Hey this is car..what car are we..this is car 54..we're in a truck"

+

The bloke in the real Good Ol Boys - "Hey Stein, your gonna look pretty stupid eatin corn on the cob with no fuckin teeth"

Welcome to the club, I've long said it's my favorite movie of all time. Now go get the new DVD edition.

funnily enough, we watched the original DVD edition the other day, and as i had only ever seen the taped-off-TV edition ive had for over 10 years now, i never realised they had cut scenes. Notably:

- Elwood quiting work and stealing the glue
- The car being parked so tight they can't open the doors
- John Lee Hooker and the man fighting over who wrote the song!

All brand new to me!

Is there a special edition out?

Someone asked me how much my kid enjoyed watching The Blues Brothers and I went  I forgot to show him that movie. So, we rented it and died laughing and I think that was the first DVD that my kid ever bought with his own money.

Same here. Until I got the DVD all I'd seen was the taped from tv version (without the swearing)

HA! One of the best car chases (http://cars.ign.com/articles/388/388628p1.html)ever. I'm going down to the video store tonight looking for the 25th Anniversary Widescreen Edition.

Elwood: Oh no.
Jake: What the fuck was that?
Elwood: The motor. We've thrown a rod.
Jake: Is that serious?
Elwood: Yup.

This is the reward i get for being a faithful blues brothers fan. I got it on dvd when it first came out, as it is my equal favourite movie of all time, a few years ago. It has pretty much no special features. No cut scenes thats for sure. Now i dont know if its because its an old edition, or because its a pal version, but I feel ripped off!

My favourite line is "its 106 miles to chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, its dark and we're wearing sunglasses" (y)

one of the best lines in cinematic history... even just the "its dark etc etc" is great on it's own.

My girlfriend's kid just saw it for the first time and was singing along the whole time. Now when I play Star Wars with him we make the soldiers go "hut hut hut hut hut hut hut hut hut".
