involving four cars.

i was on my bike today for the first ride of the year. i stopped at an intersection between a busy road and a non busy road. i was on the non busy road. so i stopped and i was adjusting my riding pack and had my back was turned to the intersection and had no intentions of crossing the street. i had been standing there for a for a few minutes when a woman all of a sudden decides to stop and let me cross. i had my headphones on and my back turned so i didn't really notice. she starts honking at me and angerly gesturing for me to cross. i told her to FUCKN' GO. as she leaves three cars behind her pile into one another. car 1 was behind the pissy woman. car 1 was just stopped. and behind car 1 was car 2 aslo stopped. then out of no where comes car three and slams into car 2 which then sandwhiches car 2 inbetween car 1 and 3. im like "AW SHIT! NO WAY!". i've never seen and accident actually happen. i was pretty stoked. so i stick around to see if a brawl woud happen. nothing did. the cops come and ask me shit and i tell them what i told you. they seemed to think it was car 3's fault. but this wouldn't of happened if the first woman hadn't slammed on her brakes to let me cross when i wasn't even looking to cross.

Today was the very first bike ride you've took this year and this crazy shit happens...damn. So what were you listening to on your headphones at the time ?

I was riding a bike with faulty brakes and I was coming to an intersection. There was an old couple at the left side of me in the intersection who was going to go straight, they stopped and then proceded. They saw me coming and like some dumbasses, they stopped right in the middle of the intersection so I was trying to wave them on because I knew I couldn't stop.

Of course they didn't keep going and I ended up t-boning them and did a face plant right into the passenger side window. Oh man, I can still remember the wide eyed look on the old lady's face as I landed my face on her window and slid down. It was just like some movie.

I used to wear headphones on my bike but it's way to dangerous...

I realised I navigate mostly on sounds so listening to music takes away a good 75% of the information about my surroundings.

but that's what makes it more HARDCORE

Yeah, that's totally HARDCORE! Did you get road rash, too?

if you get roadrash from standing then something's very wrong with you. and it's probably not road rash

Same here. These hybrid cars are going to start screwing with that, though. they're SILENT. I gotta get in the habit of looking around and behind me more often.

I think they ought to equip these cars with SOMETHING that makes noise. A little whine will do.

I ride with headphones everyday, and if anything it helps drone out the repetitive noises. I can still hear sirens, horns, even other people's car stereos, but it helps drown out the road noise here.

Amsterdam traffic is pretty hectic. Not just the cars but bikes and pedestrians jump out from everywhere.

There is one street in particular that you need to watch out in because of people that just cross the street without looking, car doors opening and people on bikes not paying attention.

Once I went through there and had three near-accidents. Riding with a headphone is not an option for me anymore.

12" subs oughta be part of the stereo requirement :D
