Do you or your wives seem to shed alot of hair, ie, take a shower and the drain cover is full of hair? Or do you or they brush their hair and after everytime they brush, is the brush full of hair as well?
Just wondering if it's normal. My wife seems to shed alot of hair, so much that I can probably make two complete Chewbacca costumes in a month if I were to save it all. She's not balding at all and she says she's been like that ever since she was a kid.
What causes this? Is it normal?

I think it's because it gets 'broken'..

Yeah and she has really long hair. I find her hair everywhere round the house, in the car, especially in the shower. I'm surprised he actually has any left on her head.

This isn't that uncommon...
Hell, it's nine months in my new place and I'm STILL finding long hairs, even after repeated vacuumings, cleanings, etc.

one possibility: lack of vitamins

that's very unlikely. She's asain and she has a strong belief in herbal vitamins/medicines which she takes on a daily basis. She also takes a Centrum one a day regularly as well.

My wife is the same way. I mean you would think she would be the bald one.
hahaha, chrome dome..Erm, yeah, you could probably use my forehead as a movie screen as well and I don't shed hair at all.

i have mid length hair but nevertheless quite an alarming amount of this comes off in the shower. result of length plus massaging motion and power of water bouncing off yr scalp, methinks.
i do something bad though.
when i turn the shower off and strands of my hair are all entwined in my hands on my nekkid shoulders i carefully pick them all off and place them on the tiled shower walls. yes. why? because you can't just pick it off with the other hand and drop it on the ground - your body is wet! it will only stick to a surface like a tile. sad but true. i am not the only person who does this, honest. i clean it off after a few days, promise ;)
i once had a room with wood panelled floors and the area where i sat and dryed/brushed my hair everyday - my god! obscene amounts of hair! wooden floors = bbbaaaad. smother it in the carpet, i say.

I do the same thing, and so does my mom! My dad's like "I think the shower walls are growing a beard." But yeah, I know what you mean. My hair's past the middle of my back though, I shed like a fuckin dog.

I'm answering for my boyfriend. YES. He says I shed worse than our cat.

i shed so much hair in the shower, it looks like there's a rug inside... and my brush is so full of hair, when i take it all out, it looks like a brillo pad.
i think hair shedding is seasonal, like with dogs, but can also be stress related... i've been pretty stressed out lately and thought i was going bald cuz i had some bald patches on my head, but now that spring has sprung, it's my coat is growing back, and in full!!! hoooray!!:D
i also think blow dryers and stuff have something to do with it too... dries out hair and damages it

Wasn't this already covered in the "Whats in Your Drain Strainer" thread?

it's actually pretty normal to lose several hundred hairs a day. you probably just notice it more on her because she's got long, dark hair.
and centrum is shit.

i lose shitloads of hair. especially when i wash it. however i'm careful not to let it go into the drain or hang around the shower, i comb my hair out with my fingers while the conditioner is in to remove all the loose hair and i throw that in the bin.
i also brush it before washing so i lose less in the shower.
my bf loses a lot of hair too, so its not a female thing, its a long hair thing.
people with short hair lose just the same amount of hair, you just don't notice it because its not long.

maybe it's the fact that she has long and black hair. It's all over the place as it's been said. In my car etc. and durning my duration at work everyday, I end up picking her hair off of me.
I once had long hair, down to the back of my back but never shed as much. In fact, I barely shed.
And dammit, I eat Flintstone chewables and so does she. Yeah, shitty ass Centrum..

goddamnit ericlee. didn't you read all my rants and tirades about flintstone chewables? those are made for four-year-olds. not adults. they're crap anyway. might as well be chewing on chalk.

I shed a lot. cort is always yelling at me. my hair is long and curly, and I have tons of it. Long hair gets tangled more easily, so when you brush it or put it up or just move it around the hairs pull on eachother and pull out. I scooped a mouse-sized clump of my own hair out of the bathroom sink last week. it was sick.

I do this too, but I gather it up when I'm done getting dressed and throw the hair ball in the trash can. (y)

yeah first im brushing my full of shampoo hair then same with conditioner and then brush them again while blow drying
so you only find my hair in the brush and then in the trash
