Before asking "ARE YOU PREGNANT?", I'm not. I haven't done anything remotely sexual in over a.. Can't remember.
Anyway, my reason for wearing a bra 24/7 is because of the pain I am now concerned with. It's so bad, my entire chest hurts. I can't even move without wanting to scream. Granted, it IS close to red tide, approx. 7 days -- but ladies, is this amount of pain I'm experiencing the NORM when close to a period?
They're so swollen, too (my nipps). They look like breast-feeding nipps. The breast is sort of hard, too.
I know I should go see a doctor, but I've ZERO cash to my name at the moment and am without insurance. There's a waiting list, apparently. Unless I've some mental condition, or am pregnant/on welfare, I have to waitwaitwait for an access card.

i could give you a very good explanation of why, as a feminist, i see it as my right to wear whatever i find comfortable, and it just so happens that i find bras comfortable....but nah.
continue.

Because it keeps them from flopping around and about when you roll over in your sleep and stuff. It does help.
Before I was preg, I would wear one to bed sometimes, during PMS time. It was sort of like a sports bra in style, but not a sports bra, and was actually very comfy. Does nothing for one's shape - looks terrible and lumpy under clothing - be very good for sleeping. When I got preg I ordered another one. The company is called Decent Exposures; try googling for them if you want a comfy sleeping bra, BA. They are not terribly expensive. As far as actually preventing or alleviating the cause of the discomfort though, I don't know what to tell you. I have heard caffeine can aggravate PMS symptoms, maybe cut down on tea/coffee/colas around that time if you are normally a big consumer?

The beauty about when your kid goes away to college: you can wear and do whatever you want again. When it's not spring break. When it's spring break, your kid comes back and brings friends with him and they scatter, sleeping on the floor in places where you don't expect to find 20-year olds.

One of the things I look forward to most at the end of the day is taking my bra off...I have never slept with one, but then again I dont have much to flop around to where they would get in the way.

That kind of pain is not normal, in my experience, and I haven't even heard of it. I think you need to see a doctor. If you lived in another country, you could.

I have breast pain every other month or, like someone else said, when I've had more caffeine than normal. It's not pain like what you describe, but it's pain to the touch, that's for sure.

i don't know if you can find it there, but fenugreek tea or capsules might be helpful.

i didn't realise this was such a "weird" thing to do untill i moved into halls at university and other girls were like "wtf?"
can't really help with the breast pain, tho. i don't really get much pms-symptoms.
you should definately see a doctor if you can't find the answer here.
all women should be breast aware! (y)

There's a woman at my gym who, in terms of bra size, has to be way deep into the alphabet. She's not blubby, but she's very big on top, really big. They look natural. She wears a flimsyish victoria's secret style of bra when she runs (hard and fast) on a treadmill and when it's the bad month for me and it hurts when I even put a bra on, it is excruciating to watch her bump and bounce around like that. She's going up and they're going down and sideways. Ouch.

i know boobs aren't muscles, but why not try rubbing some bengay on them and put a heating pad on your chest?? maybe the warmth will calm down the nerve stimulation in your nipples?? just a thought... i'm not a doctor, just play one on tv;)

no! i swear to god! wild yams have progesterone in them, so it's natural hormone replacement therapy. menopausal women use it, and it's good for pms symptoms too. tons of brands out there for it. you can rub it direcly over the ovaries on the skin, inside the inner arm, there's a vein that goes from the heel directly to the ovaries...

Strawberries help me lots. They're a natural diuretic, and I think that most of what's happening in there is water retention.
I'm talking eating strawberries, not rubbing them anywhere. :)

Good! Because the first time I read Cosmo's last post I thought it said that you rub the yam spread directly ON your ovaries and I got a bad visual.

During routine internal exams, my ob/gyn is fond of saying, HERE IT IS! and then she pushes one of my ovaries up and invites me to feel it from the outside. Like I can grope it through my skin and I'm always a little reluctant to do it but I do it anyway because she seems so happy and anything to get out of the stirrups faster.
This thread is maybe the female equivalent to a thread about guys getting kicked in the Bs.

yeah, i was kind of worried that people might think that, so i added the "on the skin" part. eww.

Grrr...started to respond and it disappeared. Anyway, I used to get pretty serious breast pains around that time of the month. Cut back on caffeine and started drinking more water and it helped. Also, it might just be coincidence, but I STOPPED sleeping in a bra around that time. Might help, might not. Cutting back on the caffeine right now is a good start. Even if that's not the problem it might allieviate it a bit. And some sort of anti-inflammatory as someone up-thread mentioned. Hope it's nothing serious.
