hey all mad cooking scientists. what are your favorite pizza combos?

i just made some french bread mini-pizzas -

slices of french bread, brushed w/ extra virgin olive oil
tomato sauce spooned over bread
dust w/ italian spices - rosemary, basil, sage, oregano, powdered onion, garlic, etc.
sprinkle cheese over (vegan in my case of course)
sautee artichoke hearts (i used frozen, they worked fine) in olive oil. make sure you mash them out a little so that all the leaves get a little browned. and add on top of cheese...
along with black olive slices...
follow with more cheese...

broil for just a couple a minutes and OH GOD. sometimes i amaze myself.

I think the key is to have some ingredients always on hand for pizzas. Pita bread as a base, anchovies, capsicum, onion, tomatoes, mushrooms, mozarella and cheddar, proper pizza sauce or alternatively some tomato puree like sugo + some italian herbs. Tomato sauce in australia is the equivalent of your ketchup, so when you say tomato sauce, cosmo, i think of somebody pouring ketchup all over their pizza :(. Also need some meats, if you are a carnivore, preferably not already sliced, so a stick of salami or some leg ham or half a breast fillet of chicken or something. And always use the oven, microwaves are evil for all purposes except reheating, and even then I think its better to reheat using the oven or in a pan.

BBQ Sauce mixed with the tomato puree is OK, I mean thats pretty much what pizza shops do when you ask for bbq sauce on your pizza. But ketchup isnt right.

I generally dont like ketchup, I'd rather have some sweet chilli, unless its a meat pie.

If you two don't stop, I am going to go post in beastie-free that there are girls in here in their underwear wrestling while eating pizza.

Yeah I know I'm embellishing a little but it would be worth it just to watch the 'view' numbers for this thread shoot up by like 4000% in 5 minutes.

Things I do with pizza and it's ingredients:

Regular Pizza: sometimes to change it up, I'll add a variety of meats and try a sweeter tomato sauce, with a couple of spices or something into the sauce. I tried harvarti cheese on the pizza, not exactly a good idea.

Mini-Pizzas: Your typical pizza with mozzarella cheese, tomato sauce, and pepperoni, but I slam it all on an english muffin. It's not bad really; it makes for a delicious snack for company to consume when you dont have the time or money to make a pizza yourself. Plus, one english muffin can make 2 of these bad boys, so a package of 10 english muffins is more than plenty. Add whatever you want on top, too.

Actually, I'm not very good at experimenting...but I can cook. Oh yes I can.

I was going to respond with something in regards to my boyfriends eating habits being worse, but everytime I'd write/re-write how gross the things he eats are... it always seemed like I was talking about stinky vagina.

And I don't have a stinky vagina. Thus, I'm at a loss.

theres a place here that makes a really good bbq chicken pizza.

theres no tomato sauce, so its just a bbq base, and the chicken i grilled and sliced up real thin, then everything is covered with cheese

my favorite pizza topping is pineapples or mushrooms

There is this pizza restaurant here in Gothenburg, Sweden. Its owned by a couple of chinese guys. They have a pizza that, besides cheese and tomatoes contains spring rolls and french fries...

Never tried it and i probably never will.

For the last couple of days I have been making pizza bagels as a quick lunch.

1. Toast a bagel.
2. Put two tablesoons of pizza sauce on it.
3. Put a slice of mozzerella cheese on it.
4. Put a couple slices of deli pepperoni on it.
5. Add some Rocconto marinated mushrooms. The olive oil in which they are floating will add a real pizza taste and texture.

Microwave for 20 seconds.
