Last night two cozzers found me and my mates with a few beers and spliffs just hanging out in this little drop-off and pick-up yard round the back of Sainsbury's. As they pulled up in the van at first I was shitting myself because I was quite battered and had had a lot to drink and smoke, but then I realised I didn't have anything illegal on me. So I just sat back and relaxed and enjoyed the whole thing.

One of them went straight for me cuz I was wearing a hood with a hat and some big black Stevie Wonder shades (I found them randomly in one of my coat pockets) and I chugged the rest of my can of beer when I saw them pull up. He asked us if we'd been smoking any cannabis, and one of my friends (he was quite mashed) said something like "I have smoked cannabis once before, but not tonight". I just came straight out with it and said yeah, I had been smoking it but if he wanted to search me he wouldn't find anything. So this guy gave me some fat in-depth search, chatting about "section 22 of the mis-use of drugs act" or something, and began feeling up my balls and checking the lining of my coat and stuff. He kept making little sarcastic comments about smoking weed and he saw my Wu Tang Clan CD and started talking shit about gangsta rap. Then he found a Mercedes symbol thing that I had taken off a car when I was walking home from somewhere drunk a few weeks ago, and started saying he was going to do me for criminal damage or some shit. The other cop who was searching my four friends got all the weed, and this one (his name was Officer Deeley, I got it cuz I said I was going to do him for harassment and feeling my bollocks) found my bud-crusher. He was all like "What do you use this for eh" and I was like "oregano, obviously". He also found 3 empty baggies and was like "how much you think the THC in these would weigh up to?" and I was like "about 0.05 of a gram, what, are you going to do me for that?" and he was like "it doesn't matter how much it is, it's illegal" and all this shit. He was getting well pissed off at me and he was like "have you ever spoken to Old Bill before?" I was like "yeah actually I did a week work experience with em before and one of them told me they don't waste their time on kids with weed". He was just like "yeah, well I do", trying to look all cool and shit. Then he started chatting some shit about this chair being "the drugs chair" and we should put all our drugs on there and there was some old bed that he called "the beer bed". I swear he was on crack or something, he chatted bare shit. He laid out all my shit on this dirty smackhead bed and I was standing there with no coat on freezing my nuts off. So I asked him if I could have a cigarette or if we were about to get in the van and he was like "nah go ahead" so I lit myself a cigarette and then offered him one. He was like "yeah alright then" and went to get one and I put them in my pocket and was like "nah actually I've only got two left, sorry". Then I picked up all my shit off the smackhead bed and opened up my crusher and smelt the skunky goodness inside it before I put it in my pocket. Then I like walked off to the side and was sort of off the hook while he took my friends who had the bud's details. That's when I took this poor quality picture (http://img85.imageshack.us/img85/3448/feds0vj.jpg) on my phone. One of my friends was proper scared that one of them might know his dad, who is also a policeman in the local area. Afterwards he said to me that when I was being rude and giving them lip and shit he really wanted to, but couldn't cuz they might know his father. Then when they were about to go Officer Deeley was like "if any of you are quick enough I might not see you take some beer while I look away" so I took back the beer that he'd taken off me plus 2 others that none of my friends claimed.

So in the end I didn't lose anything, I got one up on some sarcastic dickhead policeman, nothing is going on my record (except that I was searched and they found nothing) and I gained 2 beers. It was great fun! I felt like Robert De Niro in the café scene in Heat or something. (y)

Nothing gives anyone a right to harass people, especially not being a policeman. I would much rather they were preventing a rape or stopping a stabbing (things that happen every night in my area) than trying to do some kids for smoking weed. In a way it's pathetic, which is why I found it funny. If I did have anything on me then I admit I would probably have been very intimidated, but as it was they just looked like idiots.

I'm reflecting back on the time when my buddies and I were out chillin and drinkin, I was just chilling and not drinking though because I didn't drink but anyhow, we were all underage and the cops came and took all the people who were drinking in. All except for me and they asked why I didn't drink and my answer was because I didn't like "trouble."

Well, 3 years after that, we were all out horsing around, driving crazy and of course we got stopped and the same cop who asked me why wasn't I drunk remembered me and said, "Oh, I thought you didn't like trouble." I was fuckin wasted on top of it because I started drinking 2 years after the first incident.

I'm just saying to Pad to be carefull, nothing wrong with having a good time but the pigs don't forget people. Especially when they mouth off to them.

Everything you say makes perfect sense, eric, and I am not saying one should just start mouthing off for no fucking reason whatsoever. That will do nothing but dig your hole deeper. I have also been let off the hook a few times because I answered the cops questions completely and with respect. The reason I gave them respect is because they gave me respect. That is the key. When a cop starts being a dick with me then I give it right back to them. I treat them as they treat me.

Just to be a little more specific on why the cop was entirely in the right in this case :

1 - you were wearing big dark sunglasses at night (or so you stated)

2 - while there weren't any substances to put you in the wrong, you readily admitted you had just smoked dope after your friend had said that you guys were not

3 - he found drug paraphenalia on you. That 'bud crusher'. Unless the cop was halfway retarded, that 'I use it for oregano' comment did nothing but make you look that much more suspicious

4 - Seeing the mercedes symbol made it clear to the police officer that you were upon initial inspection anyway, a thief and a vandal.

I used to work corrections and I had to deal with cops when they bring the new intake in. Man, they fucking strut around like a rooster in a hen house.

I still say even if they do cock up to you for no apparent reason, just tell them you feel as if you're being harassed. If they keep it up then fuck it. Keep your mouth shut because obviously they have no intent of giving you slack in the first place.

After he's done, then file a complaint. For one thing it's almost a requirement for cruisers to have a camera inside the car as well as outside to record everything. If the complaint goes through and an investigation were to happen with a review of the instance, it doesn't look good on your part. Even if the cops are in the wrong, you show potential as being defiant.

As I said earlier, being polite and respectful had gotten me out of a few situations but I acted that way only because the cops were respectful with me. I have no problem with showing the police respect as long and they show it back to me and treat me like a human being. As soon as I hear, "Hey fuckhead!! Come here!!" or I ask why I'm being stopped and I get, "I'll ask the questions here, Taco!!" (I look Hispanic) I automatically slip into 'Fuck you, eat shit and die' mode. I know myself and I know how I am. When that kind of shit starts I usually know it's gonna wind up with me sitting in a station holding cell for five or six hours on some bullshit disorderly conduct charge, or something like that.

I don't care. I usually take a nap and get some rest. What would eat me alive is knowing that I let someone talk to me like that and didn't do a gotdamned thing about it, not even open my mouth. That would bug the shit out of me. I would rather spend the night in jail with my pride and dignity in check than to go home free without it.

I've met police before you idiots. You're all acting as if this thread is "wow, I met some police, it was exciting and I acted all cool!" No, that's not the point. The point is I met some police who were particularly nasty and have never heard of respect, and took great pleasure in the fact that they could not do shit to me. I have had encounters with police many times before, nearly all of whom have been friendly and "human" when dealing with me and others. Even police who have found stuff on me and my friends before haven't used it as an excuse to treat us like shit. I am not generally a rude person and as so many of you say, I have also used "charm" to get out of these sort of situations in the past, but in this case (as Kal says) politeness was not really an option. As I said when I saw them arrive I thought because I didn't have anything on me to label me as a criminal, the whole thing might be a bit of a laugh. But these people were cunts so I treated them as so. Some of you need to grow some balls and realise the police have as little right as anyone to talk down to people, even if they are criminals. Being condescending, patronising, and accusative isn't part of the job description.
