Remember two years ago when we talked about escalators? And I said I was gonna film the longest one in Sweden, well I did but then forgot about it.

And now two years later, here it is:

Enjoy! (www.multi.fi/~tal/oj/goingup.html)

You know when you're in the first seat of a roller coaster and you're on a slow but exhilarating near-vertical climb and just as you're summiting, there's a point when it's all still for a millisecond & then the front cars get pulled over the crest while the back cars are still climbing and then you freefall and do Gs down the other side? That's what I thought was going to happen at the very very end of that video. :)

Nice TAL! There is a pretty long escalator in Washington D.C. also.

Here it is! (http://transit.schuminweb.com/rail/washington/photo-display.asp?key=1509)

I was in HMV the other day and was tempted to slide down the side of the escalator they have there but I didn't as I was holding some DVD's and didn't want to drop them

there's a 143 foot escalator at porter square in cambridge, ma that's pretty badass. and after that you have to take a second escalator to get to the service (which, as escalators go, is also pretty long but it feels like nothing after the first one)

TAL

143 feet long or high?

The one in my movie is 216 feet long and 108 feet high.

Ah, it says there that it is 143 feet long. So "mine" wins.

The HK escalators are the best - running down in the mornings, and then they switch them over after the rush, so they travel upwards. I lived about 3/4 of the way up so it was pretty handy. Apart from the locals never really get the etiquette of standing on the right side. Hmmmm.

In Stockholm you always know when people from the country come to town...

Yeah, it's the screaming and pointing at vehicles that gives it away.
