View Full Version : Sky Mall
I just got back from a business trip in Texas and the Sky Mall magazine had me mesmerized for the entire trip home.
I wondered who buys a cat tent? I can't get my fuckin' cat off the bed.
A double decker pet stroller? An original sword used by Gandalf?
I found myself staring at the indoor blimp thinking how cool it would be to have this incredible item. A remote contolled indoor blimp. I can dream can't I?
I actually saw a woman rip 2 pages out of the Sky Mall and put them in her purse (bitch! Take the magazine).
I found the best use for my Sky Mall........I put my gum in between pages 11 & 12.

This reminds me of the awesome thread I made (http://www.beastieboys.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=38549&highlight=Skymall) a while back assigning everybody something from SkyMall.

When I used to travel a lot for work, I'd too, get mesmerized by the items. My favorite is still Safe-T-man so people can fool others into thinking they have a companion. I'd use it for the 2 person carpool lane.
I've never seen anyone "rip a page" but bet I would have recommended she just go to the website.
An original sword used by Gandalf?
how much?

:o uh... *ahem* I don't know, um... yeah, but not from sky mall... from a really hip home store in Santa Monica...:o
Sky Mall is, bar none, one of the best things about flying. Looking through this catalog is such a trip in and of itself.
This thread made me laugh. I think the same thoughts when I'm on the plane, but then there's sometimes this really bizarre item that you think it would be cool to have. I have yet to buy something though.
Where did you go in Texas?
cmute rhyme, I am moving to Amarillo, Texas. From beaches to tumbleweeds. My wife got a sweet job offer that we could not pass up. She will be Senior Director of Marketing for a company called Hastings. I am a freelance video/photographer so I can pick up a job most anywhere. It was a tough decision but a no brainer financially. Our home has appreciated in value nearly $130,000 in 2 years due to the South Florida real estate market being insane. We can also buy a very nice house in Amarillo on over an acre of land. We now live in a zero lot line neighborhood and feel claustrophobic.
We have a little boy on the way. He is due to arrive in late July and I want to name him Hank so Texas is a perfect place to move. Not to mention, I have always wanted to visit Oklahoma where---------------
the wind comes sweepin' down the plain
And the wavin' wheat can sure smell sweet
When the wind comes right behind the rain.
Oklahoma,
Ev'ry night my honey lamb and I
Sit alone and talk and watch a hawk
Makin' lazy circles in the sky.
It will be even more fun when I find an LSD dealer. I bet that hawk will turn into a magic carpet and take me to Vegas.

^^ Congrats on the baby on the way. :)
When I was a kid, I thought the magazine was the coolest thing ever. I thought that when I grew up and had money I would buy all kinds of things from it.
Documad, thank you very much.
My life is a whirlwind right now and thank goodness it is in a good way.
Moving is stressful and my wife is like a Augustus Gloop gobbling up chocolate.
Thankfully she is a small woman and doesn't wear lederhosen and suspenders.
P.S.--Sky Mall really intrigues me. I want to visit this mall but I don't have George Jetson's spacecar. Maybe it for sale on e-bay.

My favorite co-worker started at our office when she was slightly pregnant. I couldn't believe that she would be able to make a big change at work and on the homefront at the same time, but she handled it beautifully. She's expecting her third kid now and she's been promoted above me and she's a great mom and everything. (Her husband works with computers and has more flexibility if a kid gets sick, so that helps. If you're a real team, it seems like you can handle anything.)
