Chappelle's Show, Season 1, Episode 1, Audio Commentary...

I dunno if anyone's heard this or not, but during the audio commentary on the pilot episode of Chappelle's Show, Dave Chappelle and co-creator Neal Brennan are discussing the black white supremacist sketch.

Dave mentions how he showed the sketch to a black friend of his, and the friend (who, turns out, is long-time friend of the Beasties Cey Adams) told him it set black people back. Cey also told Dave it was like "when Adam Horovitz of the Beastie Boys said the N word at the Apollo." I found this very interesting....

Also, listening to more commentary on the Chappelle's Show DVD's, Neal Brennan apparently showed an early version of the R. Kelly "I wanna piss on you" skit to Tamra Davis and Mike D, and they gave him the suggestion to add the name "Chuck Berry" as the director, when it showed the video credits. And, if you'll watch the skit, they indeed added it. Tamra Davis directed Dave Chappelle's "Half Baked" movie, so thats where that connection is...

Oh yeah, and Google "Chuck Barry", "Video Tape", and "Bathroom" and you'll see why its funny...

Interesting tidbits there deep_sea_rain. I'm sort of torn regarding Chappelle. Don't get me wrong, I think his show is hilarious. It's just that I feel like a sorry excuse for a human after laughing so insanely at racy sketches like the two you mentionned above :D
