View Full Version : Holy crap "The Avalanches" rock.
I know I'm not the first person to discover them from this board...but I definitly didn't want to be the last. I just got their CD tonight, and it's glorious beyond glorious.
Totally Dust Brothers layering, Royksopp rhythms...samples galore. I have no idea how they made this album in 2000. Check them out HARD.

The Avalanches dont exist per se any more I think. That one album was brilliant, but after dexter left the rest of them just decided they would perform as djs. They are pretty average as djs too...
Better Aussie electronic/sampling/instrumental bands in the same vein:
Sonic Animation
Cut Copy
The Presets
Even Gerling is pretty decent.
