Sox, baby!!!

I don't know how they've been doing as far as filling the stands. I honestly haven't been to a White Sox game in about seven or eight years. The only thing that keeps me from going is the fact that I can't stand the new ballpark. It sucks. I grew up with the old, rickety, run down, about to collapse on your head Comiskey Field. That's the park I love. This new park looks like a fucking shopping mall. It has restaurants and bars and shit. There's just too much going on in there. You can get a haircut, check your e-mail, work out, have a latte, get your tires rotated and book that vacation to the Caymans you've always been talking about.

Oh, yeah. And if you're not too busy you can also watch a baseball game.

And don't even get me started on the fucking name change. US Cellular One Field? What a joke and an insult. South Siders still call it Comiskey. I just refuse to watch baseball under those conditions.

Hmmm....99-00? Does this have anything to do with the father/son team that jumped the KC Royal's coach? Wait...that was like in 03?

Maybe it was one of the fans slapped Biggio's wife? No...that was last year?

Or did you mean the 06 White Sox designated driver program to reward responsible drinking?

The Chicago Cubs in 1999 - 2000 had their worst winning % in a two year span in team history. Keep in mind this is a team that didn't have back to back winning seasons in thirty years. We are talking a long, long history of being losers. The other franchise record they set in the same two year span was an all time attendance high.

What does that tell you about cubs 'fans'? It tells me that the people that fill that park are sheep that don't demand much from their team.

How many Championships have all those attendance dollars brought the cubbies in the past 93 years? The Tribune Company could care less about a championship, they just want to see a profit. The high attendance that cubs 'fans' take so much pride in is the reason the Tribune Company doesn't need to put a winner on the field. The joke is on you and the rest of the sheep that spend their money at that dump. Enjoy the piss troughs and the perennial losing.

One championship in 90 fucking years makes you an inefficient performer. Don't think that because of one championship that suddenly it's a dynasty. Get used to the idea of 90 more years, Sox fans.

The Red Sox aren't much better, and the Cubbies don't get off the hook either. It's just sad that a team can't put it together even for one year and pull off an upset or squak in a couple of wins to claim the championship. Even if they took a decade to suck so they could get the better prospects and save up some money, they should be able to at least fluke a championship. Chicago White Sox fans, I'm sorry but your team didn't do squat in the lifetime of millions of fans, so save up all your memories for your great grandchildren because they won't repeat. You better pray the Blue Jays don't win the wild card. You better pray.

Toucan, you can spew forth all bullshit you like. 90 years this and blah, blah, blah that. I don't care. Knock yourself out. Maybe we won't win for another 90 years or even 190 years. But that doesn't matter. Know why? Because of right now.

Right now is all that matters. Right now is all that is important to us. Right now we are the reigning World Champions. Right now we are winners.

So piss off, Touc.

Interesting point. But hasn't Soldier Field pretty much been full no matter how great or shitty the Bears are doing?

The White Sox pretty consistently draw about 1.9 million in attendance every year.

There's a fine line between fair-weathered fans that abandon the team when they do poorly and loyal fans that are critical but still fill the seats.

The World Championship White Sox went wire-to-wire (11 - 1 in the play-offs) last year and what do they do? They add another good pitcher in Vasquez to the best rotation in baseball and pick up Jim Thome. If Thome stays healthy he will lead the league in home runs, and be named World Series MVP in October.

No surprise you went out on a limb and became an Atlanta fan, with their 17 division titles in a row.

There has been a waiting list for season tickets forever, but the Bears were in trouble 5 or 6 years ago when people stopped going. There was talk about the home games being blacked out because of the lack of attendance. Bank 1 ended buying big chunks of tickets so it wouldn't happen.

I like Sox park when it's not that full. Shorter beer lines, and less security to run by if I want to jump onto the field for roll-a-coach night.

They have won that division so consistantly that they havent won it since I was 3, before I was capable of understanding stats and the concept of baseball; I'll admit that I hopped on the bandwagon in 1995 but they haven't won anything significant since then, so quit your whining.

One championship in 90 fucking years makes you an inefficient performer. Don't think that because of one championship that suddenly it's a dynasty. Get used to the idea of 90 more years, Sox fans.

Inefficient performers generally don't win the world series, toolbag. If you knew jack shit about baseball, you'd acknowledge that the White Sox dominated throughout the entire season and they deserved the championship. No one player's stats from last year jump off the pages because they played as a team in every possible aspect of the game, and that includes relief pitching and defense.

No one said anything about a dynasty. Your attempts at shit talking are senseless and laughable.

It saddens me in a way to know that if I still lived in Chicago, I'd have to struggle to manage to swing a ticket to a game because everyone's on the bandwagon now. It's not like the old days where you could just drive to Comiskey on a whim and buy tickets at the gate. I think there should be some sort of priorty list for tickets. If you've ever sat through 2-hour rain delays or 30 degree weather to watch the Sox play during a losing season, then you get your pick of the tickets. If you're some Land Rover driving douchebag from Kenilworth who bills himself a "Chicago fan," one who doesn't support any one team and just likes Chicago teams in general, you better get comfortable in the back of the fucking line. But even though I'm not happy about all of the sudden cock fondling by the fair weather fans who can usually be sighted at Wrigley talking about the handicap in their golf game and ignoring the snoozefest on the field, I know that the ticket sales are generating revenue for the franchise, which ultimatley means more room for growth as far as the team is concerned.

The Sox haven't gotten off to a really solid start, but I honestly think once Scott Podsednik gets his swagger back, everything will fall back into place in terms of the team dynamic. He's essentially going through his spring training right now since he was injured pre-season. When he puts his pimp hat back on, all of the Good Guys' bats will heat up because Scotty P strikes fear into the hearts of every pitcher whose bases he runs. There's no denying that, Toucan. Do your homework before you even attempt a rebuttal.

Obviously I said that to draw you out and you didn't dissapoint. At least you know your stuff-- marsdaddy is so fuckin old he might forget what base comes after second.

Anyways, I do recall the stats from last year, and up until the last twenty games of the season, the White Sox were dominant in their division. They were a force to be reckoned with in the playoffs, and I was really impressed with Aj Piersinski (spelling?). In all honesty, the Indians didn't improve and that division will probably look the same as far as standings, so I do expect to see the Sox in the playoffs, but I think that the AL is extremely competitive with the BoSox, the Yanks, the Angels and Jays all fielding solid teams. It could be a toss up as to who comes out the AL on top.

As for the NL, the Braves won't have much competition again, and they will buy their way into the playoffs.
