The Oaks. The Oaks! It's close to me. YAY! I can go there and I LOVE that theater. Huge (450ish seats) art deco style with curtains on the walls and tall ceilings and cool lighting fixtures and a glass case with old-fashioned candy in the concession area, a wooden stage up front. (y)

I don't imagine, though, that AIFST will draw the crowds to that theater given the neighborhood. Somewhat of a rich, retirees elitey place right on the river, near yacht clubs. Golf's U.S. Open is happening in that neighborhood in 2007. Poshy for AIFST. I'll go, but I'll maybe tie a Polo sweater around my neck, wear unstained jeans. :p

I just found out a few days ago that AIFST is going to be playing in a theatre one night only on Monday like 15 minutes away from me, in Halifax!!! I had given up all hope that I was going to see it in theatres.

I called the theatre hoping to get the scoop on tickets and such, and they are selling them only when people get there, and he said that the theatre itself wasn't in charge of tickets, and that someone had essentially rented the theatre out and was going to play it and sell tickets? Is this how it normally goes?

I thought it was weird, but I'll be there!

The AFCOOP Monday Night Movie Screening at 7 p.m. at Park Lane Theatres is Beastie Boys, Awesome, I Shot That!

Fifty cameras were handed to fans at Madison Square Garden in October 2004. Guerilla filmmaking carries you into the heart of a Beastie Boys concert.

Admission is $9 ($7 members).
