do you guys remember any school bus drivers you had as a kid? i remember in the 80s my bus drivers name was charlie, he had thick white hair, perfectly combed back, wore these cool ferrari sunglasses, smoked Marlboro reds, leather jacket and used to stop the bus for coffee (leaving a bus full of kids on a busy queens street) and was quite a whistler. he didn’t give a crap what we did, he left the discipline to the 6th grade bus monitors who would constantly scream at us about that kid who stuck his head out the window and had it smashed off by a tree. charlie was no otis, but he was cool

he went by the name of smiley - he was awesome. around halloween or easter he would bring a big bag of real life sized candy bars for us to pick one when we got off the bus. (that ages me a bit since i doubt that bus drivers are allowed to do that anymore) he was real cool, but if kids got too crazy, hed put the smackdown. if i go back to my hometown sometimes i see him at the grocery and he still remembers my name. he was pretty much my bus driver from kindergarten till either i graduated or started being too cool to ride the bus.

i only rode the bus to school for a few weeks or so, but i remember my school bus driver being a BITCH. i don't say that about a lot of people, but i can totally remember being in 3rd grade, taking the bus home, and thinking "man, that old lady's a bitch."

'genie the meany' - she was an old lady that yelled a lot, and organized the bus by who got off first, and shit.

'sis' - got me kicked off for something, and so i had to walk home for grade 5.

...pretty much all the women bus driver's i've had were bitches.

one of my old girlfriend's mom was my bus driver. She used to always stare at me through the mirror up front. Everytime I'd look at the mirror, her eyes were locked on me as if she was going to eat me.

I didn't ride the bus until eighth grade and I don't remember anything about that bus driver she (I can't even remember if the driver was a man or woman, shows how much I cared about it) always left the radio on the top 40 station, which was shit then, and is even shittier now, but they played lots of Ace of Base.

my house is a block form my elementary school, and 2 blocks the other way to my high school


so the only bussing i had was middle school, which was shit



i do remember the time, i think it was 6th grade, and we had this badass kid on our bus who sat in the back and was always getting in trouble for something. so one day when we were on our way to school and kids were talking about how he was in so much trouble. so he opened up the emergency door in the back and jumped out and took off running back the other way. the bus driver kept going and that door stayed open the rest of the ride to school...

that particular driver was just a dope who thought he was awesome for being a middle school bus driver. he had this sign at the front that said "DO NOT (listing every possible synonym for bother/annoy) THE DRIVER" and would point at it any time someone mentioned his name
