alright it's my bf's b-day soon (couple weeks) he's a dj and wears mostly dj t-shirts and hoodies and such... I'm new in the manhattan area and want to know where you can go to purchase some techinics or whatever dj gear for him. Websites? This is my first time giving him a birthday gift so I gotta make it good (ya know?) So new yorkers tell me about this city and where to go. I'm sure he'll appreciate a gift of something cool..

where are those places?

and I guess it's a big deal to some people to specify East Coast..
I don't think it is for my bf though.

I 've been checking there too and there isn't much when you don't know brand names.. he's got a "waxaholic" one and I've been searching "technics..." I'm not a dj and I know there is some killer shit out there somewhere in the 5 burroughs that he'd love for his birthday, see I just have no clue where to look.

i was kidding about those two places. go to soho with a a big wad of money and you'll find everything you're looking for. look on a map: between houston st & canal street (they run east to west) and between bowery and 7th ave (maybe to 9th?). yeah it'll all be overpriced and right out of vice mag, but i think thats what you're looking for

thanks :) I figured it would all be over priced just b/c target consumers. Some of the hoodies I've found have been like $100 and such. That's not too much to spend on my man but damn 100 bucks for a hoodie!? I casually asked him about his hoodies last night and found that most aren't scratch hoodies, but many of his t-shirts are obviously dj themed..
He knows a lot more about Mix Master Mike than I ever knew. He knew about him WAY b4 the beasties picked him up.. If the beasties wouldn't have scooped him up I'd have never known about MMM and all his groovy mixes.
I appreciate the help from you guys.. I've got until May 10th for this so I think I can come up with something by then..

I know I might be stretching it a little bit here... but have you checked Hot (http://www.hottopic.com/store/product.asp?LS=0&ITEM=302500) Topic (http://www.hottopic.com/store/product.asp?LS=0&ITEM=311985)?

I know they're sold out on the website, but maybe if you walked into a few of the stores they might have some in stock.

hahaha that's a good one.. I know they're around somewhere but the best place I can think to check are the jersey malls taxes are better for that kinda stuff anyhow.
I'll have to tear all the tags off *giggle* if I buy him something from Hot topic b/c he'll laugh at me.. with good reason..
nah.. it's an okay place for certain things and I actually hadn't considered looking in that store so thanks so much. I'll be sure to check there.

Oh and btw.. I grew up in Michigan.. Just left last fall.. How's it goin there?

Michigan still sucks. You're better off where you're at. Trust me.

When I saw BF I thought "Beastie Free". I guess that makes me a nerd or something.
