Doesn't sound like this person is a true friend. A "friend" would not mess with you about the music you prefer, they would just accept it even though it wasn't their favorite. Everyone has a favorite band and that band is better than all other bands in their minds. I wouldn't waste my time trying to prove that the Beastie Boys were better than another band.

Please dont hate me for saying this but, here is what I would do. First dont diss his music thats hypicritical and, all music desereves repect. Just tell him seriously they are my idols please just except it and move on. And maybe tell him about how the Beasties inspired Coldplay with the whole movie thing.:)

That is true. They are on the same label so i see no conflict there, maybe you can mention that.

i had that problem too, but it didn't really bother me. however my friend didn't have a car so i had to drive her everywhere. and my car always has a beastie cd playing in it, so at first she tried to fight to put the radio on but eventually she realized that i was always going to win (b/c the controls are on the steering wheel too). then she started to enjoy listening to paul's boutique, and then she started getting songs stuck in her head. she still denies that she likes the beastie boys, but i know she does because she has her own car now but sometimes she admits that she misses riding in my car and listening to the music. :)

you don't necessarily have to prove they're better (since that's totally obvious anyway), but you and your friend just need to accept that you like the beastie boys and they like coldplay and tell your friend not to bother you about it anymore. because your friend sounds exactly like mine, and she watched AIFST with me, totally changed her opinion of the beasties. it's true. :)

she's not like a big huge fan now or anything but she doesn't bug me about it anymore. just don't try proving they're better, because that might just annoy your friend more.
