So what's yours?

Mine would be Euchre. It's very similar to spades. It's very popular in northern Ohio, where I'm from but once I moved to Cincinnatti and traveled further down south everyone I knew from there has never heard of it.

Spades. If I'm drinkin, Asshole. I like Euchre, too, but it's so hard to find a game around here and if I'm lucky enough to find people to play, I usually have to explain the game as we go. That sucks.

Asshole is the number one game while drinking! I could get you fucked up in a quickie if I were president mainly because I make people laugh if I'm the pres and if you're the asshole, I'd make you drink because the guy above you took a breath.

Damn DIGI, we need to pair up and play some fuckin' euchre! What sucks more is when I was in the army stationed at Fort Polk Louisana for 3 years and I never played one hand of euchre. I'd try to get a game going but they all laughed at me and proceded to play freakin' spades.

I'd always make em say, "thank you motherfucker, may I please have another?" after every drink. I'd usually give out 5 drinks a peice and sometimes a whole beer, depending on the violation of my rule.

Usually after the third thank you motherfucker, the speach would be slurred which of course would cause me to order them at least two more drinks.

I play poker once, sometimes twice a month with some work buds, we smoke cigars, get shithouse drunk (cept me, I'm not drinking anymore) and play a lot of Texas Hold 'Em.

A blast is had by all!

oh, in case people don't know what slaps is:

IT'S ONLY THE RADDEST GAME EVER!

take two decks. remove all face cards from both. combine the remaining cards (ace through ten) and distribute them evenly between all players (the more, the better). everyone should have a big handful of cards.

going around the table, a player puts down the first card from his or her pile on the table, and starts off saying "one." the next person puts down a card, making a pile, and says "two." and so on around the table, until "ten." then the next person says "one," et cetera. now, here's the fun part - if the card that's put down is the same number as the one the person calls out (for example, a person puts down an ace at the same time it's his/her turn to say "one"), everyone has to SLAM their hands down on the card. the last person to slam his or her hand down has to take all the cards in the pile. when you get rid of all of your cards, you're out and get to watch the losers battling it out with more and more cards.

this game takes a while to get the hang of, but once everyone gets it it's so damned much fun. it's great drunk or sober. you end up with a lot of really sore hands, but it's an awesome icebreaker.

that sounds fun Cos, I think I'll try it next weekend because I've got some friends coming over.

I've been playing alot of Egyptian ratnscrew lately but it's just too fast paced for me. Whenever buddies come over, we usually get a little drunk and stoned which makes the game a little too hard to comprehend.

5 card draw 222 (2 draws of 2, deuces wild)
5 card draw -mandatory 3-2-1 (gotta toss 3, then 2, then 1 no matter what you got, semi-made this one up and people fucking hate it cause WHATOHSHITYOUGOTAFULLHOUSE too bad asshole toss 2 cards or fold)
Misery

casino style solitaire
rummy
crib
countdown crazy 8's (start with 8 are wild and all the rules are the same, but once you get rid of your cards the game isnt over you just move onto having 7 as wilds etc etc until you read aces, it gets super tricky at this point and shit gets vicious)

In highschool I used to spend my busfare on food and then spend the rest of the lunch period playing Spades in the back of the cafeteria trying to hustle up enough money to get home.

I play Solitare. That's about it. Someone tried to teach me how to play Casino recently. Don't fucking ask me, "How do you play Casino?" I have no idea. I wasn't really into it.

That's about it. I don't really play cards.

Slam.
Objective: Get rid of all cards as fast as you can.

Divide the deck into two.
Shuffle.
Distribute the cards just as you would in solitaire with 6 rows.
Players place remaining cards on their right.
Top card from these piles is turned over
3-2-1.
Okay, say you have a king on one side and you have a queen or an ace visible from your row, place them swiftly on top of the king and turn over the card behind the one you have just taken up. Say it's a 6, you can't move that until you get a 5 or a 7 on either of the two piles.
The who gets rid of their rows has to select the smallest pile and call SLAM! in order to gain the smaller pile and the opponent to have to bigger one, thus making it harder to rid all of their cards.
You keep going until one player has none at all.

You need to be pretty nimble for this, it's fun and fast. There's 6 rows so you're constantly having to look at what you have and what the opponent is up to etc.

Smashing game.

Actually, I used to play Magic: The Gathering and I can tell you that they are, in fact, a very large laughing matter. They're such a laughing matter that those geniuses at Wizards of the Coast are laughing their way all the way to the bank.

'Round these parts everyone digs on euchre, which I'm convinced is some kind of regional thing. Hearing that the northern Ohio region enjoys it as well only furthers my suspicions. But, I don't know how to explain the UK knowing about it... so maybe my plan is foiled.

I like Phase 10. I don't know if that counts as a card game since it doesn't really use traditional playing cards... but whatever. Uno is pretty fun too. Now with that new version that has the thing that spits cards at you... oh man, I had an awesome time playing that.

I've gotta say that this presidents and assholes thing sounds interesting too, but I've never played. I'm pretty sure people around here have though... so maybe I should jump in on the next game.

this game called "spoons" that i playing in high school.
you pass cards around in a circle and try to get four of a kind. the first person to get it takes a spoon from the middle of the circle. once the first person takes one everyone else has to try to discreetly take one. the person who doesn't get a spoon names a random card in the pack. the dealer deals out the pack until they reach the card the person mentioned.
all of the cards laid down before that card count for different beatings.
for example: hearts is a punch, diamonds is a slap. this is a fun game cos you get to beat folks up. we would go home with bruises all over us. then we'd sit in the gutter and smoke. good clean high school fun.

That game fucking rocks. You can have four sworn enemies in a room and they'll happily play Euchre together. One of the best games ever ever ever. (y)

Also, from about.com:

It is believed that what we know now as Euchre evolved from the game called "Jucker". Jucker, created by an unknown source, has it's [sic] roots in Alsace (a former province of France) circa the French Revolution of 1789. Early in the 1800's, Euchre (the game's new English name) found it's [sic] way to the United States. 1872 saw the introduction of the Joker (a card used to represent the highest ranked card in the game or a wild card). Some modern Euchre circles use one joker while other use none. The US Navy, in the later 1800's, was largely responsible for the steady spread in popularity throughout other English-speaking regions of the globe. The popularity of Euchre would grow in the other branches of the military into the late twentieth century.

In the present day, Euchre has found homes in Canada, spanning from Nova Scotia to the Midwest, the Northeastern and Midwest regions of the United States, as well as at sea in the United States Navy (old habits die hard). Further outbreaks of Euchre-mania have been reported in Britain, New Zealand and Australia. Even today, the game's insatiable appetite for freetime still drives it to span the globe.

...I've never played it with a joker... has anyone here?
