I have to pay $3k in taxes this year. I'll be in the same boat next year if I don't come up with some sort of business for deductions. What do you think?

Dog walker? Wedding Planner? Mortgages?

Eek!

Well, I have to be self-employed. If I was an independant contractor type lap dancer, I'd probably have to be one of those "straight to your room" type girls that go to the casinos here in Vegas. That's scary. I want to lower my taxes, not get raped.

Living in Vegas, wouldn't hooker be the easiest self employment?

I never thought about the tons of deductions I'll be able to give myself around tax time when I start my own business... wow, this really makes my possibilities endless and very exciting.

Why not self employ yourself as the manager of a local music act that's independent and struggling or something? That could be fun, right?

I guess it doesn't really matter what I do. As long as I have a 1099 I can write off a home office, mileage, all kinds of stuff.

start one of those paralegal places where people can do basic stuff through you, like simple wills, divorces, etc.

actually, a dog walking business can be very lucrative. my mom's daughter moved to chicago to do graphic design and started a little dog walking business on the side. the dog walking took off and she made it her full time business and does quite well.
