Is the Adrock Tag in Henry Chalfants original Subway Art book one in the same?

Heres a question that only a few people in the world might know. Adrock being one of them...I have always wondered if in fact it was ? Many may not have noticed, but always being a devoted fan of the music ..I did...

But I think only AdaM will really know !

Its reads like a Hip-Hop Trivial Pursuit question ..You really do have to be down to know this, or to even spot it. I've wondered for years.

In the classic 1984 Graffiti book Subway Art By Henry Chalfant & Martha Cooper on page 21 on the top right side there is a prominent ADROCK tag ! underneath the Adrock tag, the name Mark it seems to be in the same hand. Is this from The Beastie Adrock ? I know he wrote a lil bit, lived in NYC at the time, and even knew Dondi White etc. He even appears in a pic in Dondi's Bio. Its no secret The Beasties have been linked to graffiti from early on using Cey for design, Vaugn Bode & Cheech wizard references, (When I wrote graffiti my name was "slop") etc. Maybe I wonder too much.

As for the mag article, wouldnt that be a highly left field issue to come up in a magazine interview ??

No one except a select few would know what the hell they were talking about anyway. Theres a really good chance this tag was done before he joined The Beasties..The Book was 1st published in early 1984 and a lot of the pics are from the late 70s & very early 80s. (81,82)

Unless Adam confirms himself, I am thinking Ceys word is pretty good !! Anybody want the pic let me know!!

But who knows ?

Extra cheese thats a great article. I could'nt read the initial one you inserted but after it was inserted a second time I could read it !! Weird ?? Thats great that you have that article . Who would've thought it existed. Great bit of homework doing !! Like I said before Only a select few will know what its all about !! Good Job! I thinks its great that the issue has even been noted and commented on. Its really is a subject only the real hip hop peoples & Super-Fans would know about.
