Heres a more historically accurate assessment of the Kokoda trail campaign: Battle over a track from Port Moresby to Kokoda in Papua New Guinea. 2000 Australian soldiers, 10000 Japanese soldiers. 700 Australians killed, 6500 japanese killed. The town of kokoda traded hands numerous times in the battle. Australia was assisted by the natives, as Papua New Guinea was a part of Australia at the time. Pretty much if Papua new guinea fell, the japanese forces would have invaded Australia. But the japanese withdrew, and eventually were beaten by the Americans and Australians in a joint partnership at the battle of Buna-gona.

This is a far more culturally significant battle than gallipoli or any other Australian battle, because it lead to the mass immigration of post WWII, under the notion that we needed more people to be able to defend ourselves.

What can you possible mean by "word"?

Girl on the movie show said it was just jingoistic trite. Dude said it was ok.

I'll probably see it.

I think it will be largely rubbish. But I'm still interested. I enjoy most "based on true events" style movies.
