It's inching closer to the big Friday start people! Alot of good teams are in and it's undoubtedly going to be an exciting run this year. Let's see who's your team and what players are going to be bringing it hard.
I say let's make it interesting...how about a little 'mini-pool' for the message boarders! Pick 7 players and a goalie. If you're looking to participate, state your picks before Friday night 7:00 and lets run with this. Even if you're not into playoff pools but like hockey, let's hear your thoughts about the coming playoffs.
The scoring system won't be anything too elaborate. It's a cumulative points system which will span the entire playoffs.
a goal or an assist [players]= 1 point
a win [goalies] = 2 points
shutout [goalies] = 1 additional point
nice and easy.(y)
P.S If any of the initial posts in which players are picked are edited at any point, YOU'RE OUT!

cool idea. i'm going to give it some thought, then put up my players. What if people have similar picks?

good question. We could have a draft but that would be too complicated. Nice and easy. Maybe up the player count to 10.
At the end of the playoffs, the person with the most points wins. Tie breaker might as well be goals. As the playoffs progress, teams will get eliminated and subsequently players and goalies will stop producing points. It's a dynamic you don't see during the regular season.
The winner gets a superpriZe. I cannot divulge any more information at this juncture.

jabumbo, both good teams. I reckon you pick san jose..they're playing nashville and I think they're going to take it. sarky, detroit is definately a threat. I want to see Yzerman have a good playoffs because I think he'll retire next year.
Alright, I'm going to go out on a limb here. Upped the player could to 10. So 10 players and 1 goalie total (y)

ahhh yeah y'all! I might whip together a webpage to track the teams.
I can't edit the first post anymore so for clarity sake :
10 players and 1 goalie per team. A goal or an assist is 1 point. The goalie gets 2 points per win and an additional 1 point for a shutout.
Toucan, you picked 2 goalies. If you want to change Kiprusoff of Brodeur go for it but i'm watching! :D

That's the most ignorant thing anyone has ever directed my way. I grew up on hockey, and know so much more than you could ever dream of knowing. Stating something like this makes you look like an ignorant, rude ass.
By the way, the Wings won.

Alright, 2 goalies MAXIMUM, 1 goalie MINIMUM making for a total of 11 players. No changes required.
Crazy first night of playoff action y'all! I'll make up an access database tonite after work and try to throw it online. Toucan, Kiprusoff got a shutout yesterday so thats an extra point. Looks like you're leading out of the gate.

With the piss poor playing of the Wings right now, it'll be Oilers in 5 games. They look pathetic, the offense isn't clicking, the goalie looks incredibly shakey, there is NO heart in the game. This makes me physically sick, literally. I just took a gagging attack. If Zetterberg, Williams, Datsyuk and Shannahan don't get their shit in gear and score, it's over, plain and simple.
The way this team looks tonight they don't deserve to play four fucking games of this series.
