I bought it a couple weeks back and just now got into it when I have the spare time. It's gta esque but of course not as good but gta did pave the way for some really decent free roam games such as this.
Some bad parts about it are that the pedestrians aren't as much fun as gta. They're all a bunch of pussies who don't fight back. Only when you first start they will and sometimes make derogatory statements to you but once you've gained respect they all kiss your ass as you walk past them.
Another thing is the automobiles. You can't flip them and there isn't much variety at all. If you hijack a car, the people don't even try to pull you out of it and neither do the cops try.
My favorite parts about it are taking over buisnesses and rackets. The rival families will put up one hell of a fight especially when you try to take over a wearhouse.
Taking over a rival families compound is the best so far and the fights to take it over could last for up to an hour.
The missions are decent and lengthy as well as the contract hits.
I'm not as impressed with it as I was with gta but still, it's a good game if you're a Mario Puzo fan or a Godfather fan.

Interesting review... I was wondering about this game and I've got to say that you've at least made me consider renting it now. Hell, maybe I should just buy it, I dunno.
I should check this stuff out though...

it's a huge game too. The map includes Brooklyn, Little Italy, Hell's Kitchen, pretty much all of New York and a little bit of New Jersey.
Each section has about 10 businesses and two wearhouses and or ports to take over. Once you do that and take out a compound, you own that section.
Of course being that it's set in the 40's, the weaponry isn't all that advanced but they all do the trick. Especially the moltovs.

good question. I think they have it on delay for now, maybe for a few additives. That's another one I'm keeping my eye out for.
It's supposed to take place after his house got invaded but instead of dying, he escaped.

Yeah, I went round a friend's house when he rented it the other night and we ended up playing it for more than 6 hours, and getting through about 25 beers and 40 cigarettes. By the end of the session I stood up and had almost forgotten how to walk. But it was worth it, I really enjoyed the game. The worst bits are definitely the driving though. The handling on the cars themselves isn't bad at all, it's just the length of some of the driving sections that makes them a chore.
I'd recommend getting it, definitely. (y)

I woke up this morning and my 360 finally went kaput like they said it was going to. I knew it was just a matter of time... piece of crap.
Anyway, they're going to repair it for free, so I guess The Godfather will just have to wait a little bit longer.

I have this on PC, it's pretty good. Worth the downl...purchase. Even though it's seems to be less freedom and scope to do shit around the city compared to GTA, the actual person to person interaction is pretty good. You can properly fight them and throw them around. The shootouts are better than GTA, where you can duck under tables and shit, and pop up like they do in the movies. The driving is not bad, GTA is probably better though.
Overall, 7/10. Good fun.
yeah, the fighting's good. Especially when you threaten them by pushing them closer to the edge of a building, also when you can slam their head into tables or slam them into a wall.
I love the execution style kills with the close range shotgun to the back of the head while you grab their neck.
Have you taken over any wearhouses or compounds yet?

I gotta warn you, the fighting up to the wearhouse is hard enough but once you get inside, watch out for the mugs with the shotguns. They'll pop from a corner and blast you and it's quite deadly.
Especially when you try to take over the other compounds.

man that sucks scary. I'm sure the 360's got a few more extras too.
My buddy got Call of Duty 2 for regular xbox and beat it and then he bought a 360 with COD2 and he said it was so much different.
