Sean Lennon
Q-Tip
Biz Markie
MC Serch from 3rd Bass

Anyone else?

I just remembered that Miles Davis praised Paul's Boutique before he died, so I guess it's okay for me to say he was a fan.
And Eminem has said more than once that the Beastie Boys were a huge influence on him.

- Kanye West
- Pat Wilson (drummer, Weezer): I remember seeing a picture with him wearing a Beastie Boys shirt. I verified this on Google an got this interview (http://wma.weezernation.com/19950302disc.htm), in which he says he "enjoys" the BBoys.
I'll post later if I think of any more... must commute back home...

in Kiedis's unbelievably excellent autobiography he mentions the beastie boys at least 5 separate times, due to his relations with adrock's girl, and another time when get this THE DALI LAHMA (sp?) TOLD KIEDIS IN PERSON THAT IF YAUCH EVER CALLED HIM UP (KIEDIS) TO PERFORM AT ONE OF YAUCH'S TIBETAN FREEDOM CONCERTS, TO PERFORM AT IT WITH HIS BAND (the chilis)...funny enough, the chilis almost weren't allowed to play at one of them in new york, but pearl jam complained on their behalf and the chillis ended up being allowed to perform...now i heard that kiedis and adrock aren't best buddies since kiedis got the girlfriend "addicted" to cocaine, heroin etc. or something along those lines, but kiedis speaks rather positively of them in the book...hope that helped :D

this makes sense, but where did you hear it from?
I remember when TT5B came out he put a thing on his blog on his site or whatever saying he picked it up and that it was great as always and that they never disappoint.
Also I just remembered the Chemical Brothers, who some of you might know, originally named themselves after the Dust Brothers after the original Dust Brothers because they produced their favorite album, Paul's Boutique.
Kevin Smith is another one (I know he's a fan of Paul's Boutique anyways) and he was originally gonna use Shake Your Rump in Dogma but they didn't give permission in time or something. Also in one of his MTV promos Jay (from Jay & Silent Bob) mentions the Beastie Boys rewriting High Plains Drifter to include him and Silent Bob.

If you have Itunes, you can go to the music store, bottom of the page, celebrity playlists...
here's what Reverend Run said about Paul Revere: "They came out right after we did and this song just takes me back to a certain place in time."
here's what Tommy Lee said about So What'cha Want:"Can we get any more distortion on?"
Here's what The Bareneked Ladies said about Shadrach: "Intense, hilarious, and groovy as hell. This whole album rules."

i tried searching it in the search bar, nothing for me too.
i simply went throught the 4 pages of celebritly playlists, and i clicked on those who i though might have an interest in them, so i didn't go through all the artists (the loading time would kill me).

On Jackrock's tip, I went through all the celebrity playlits on Itunes, and this is what I found:
Jason McGerr (of Death Cab for Cutie) - Rhyme the Rhyme Well - "This joint is crackin'. A dope beat with some old-school-flavored flow".
B.J. Novak (Ryan the Temp on "The Office" NBC) - Funky Boss - "I used to love this song. Now I just like this song" (his playlist is chosen in lines with the character he plays in the show, hence the comment. Funny though, I'm totally in love with this guy, he's great on the show)
Fab 5 Freddy - Hold It Now, Hit It - "Unfortunately, Cookie Puss, the first Beastie Boys song I remember and loved, is not yet on Itunes. But this song I remember well. They expanded what rap music could be back then with their punk, rap, frat boy sensibility. The Beasties and I hung in the same East Village circles back then and I watched Russell Simmons and Rick Rubin groom them for the big time. I remember seeing them hit the stage opening for Run-DMC and PE back then to all those black crowds getting nothing but love for this song."
Luciano Supervielle (I have no idea who this is) - We Got The - "If it wasn't for the Beastie Boys I would be making much different music now. To The 5 Boroughs is excellent"
X-Ecutioners - Slow and Low - "A lot of funk and soul in their delivery to the music, one of the best rap groups of all time...."
Barb
P.S. - MMM has a playlist on there but I don't have the energy to transcribe that
P.P.S. - Many of the celebrities mentioned in this thread have playlists on there with no mention of the Bboys
P.P.P.S. This took me for-fucking-ever. No cutting a pasting, I had to retpye everything cause it wouldn't let me cut and paste.

Alright, I never post in this section, but I know a couple that weren't mentioned, so here goes:
Incubus-I read an article on them back in 1998 were they mentioned that the Beasties were a huge influence on them in the early days. In an interview Brandon and Mike both said they want to open for the Beasties and Mike said later in the same interview that the would be in the lineup of his ideal festival.
Crappy boy bands- I remember seeing pics of both Backstreet Boys and Nsync were one of the dudes was wearing a Beasties shirt. I know that might not mean much though. And it was in Rolling Stone, not some teen mag, so no jokes people!

I think Master P is a fan, or he at least liked Licensed To Ill because he did a remix of "Paul Revere".
I think Redman, Keith Murray, and Eric Sermon are fans too. They did that remix of, I believe "Intergalatic" back in 1998. They also did a cover of "Posse In Effect" for DJ Green Lantern's New York State Of Mind mixtape in 2004.
Speaking of which, Busta Rhymes, Onyx, and Pusha from Clispe all appeared on the New York State Of Mind mixtape. Could they all be fans?

If you have Itunes, you can go to the music store, bottom of the page, celebrity playlists...
iTunes just put up Jack Black's playlist, and lists "We Got The" as the first track. He says, "I love it when a great band tells the government where they can stick it. The Beasties knock this one out of the park."

Dave Chappelle also.
oh,DJ Premier wants them on his solo album.

I'm pretty sure Sermon and Redman remixed Body Movin', and that the cover of the last verse of The New Style on Green Lantern's mixtape was Beet Drop on Redman's own Doc's da Name 2000.
But yeah, with all the references Redman drops I'd definitely say he's a fan. And he thanked them on the liner notes for Malpractice.

I was browsing the celebrity playlists on iTunes and remembered this thread. Here are more artists that've added Beastie Boys songs to their playlists:
- Wolfmother ("Something's Got to Give"): "My first taste of a 'modern' band that has a real sense of style." (doesn't say who from Wolfmother said this)
- KT Tunstall ("Root Down"): "I adore this track. The Beastie Boys are like the Flaming Lips for me. They could both save the world from self-destruction."
- Jamie Kennedy ("Get It Together"): "Q-Tip's voice is just plain ridiculous on this. We never get tired of this beat."

When BRMC played here in Stockholm back in 2003 I bumped into Nick at the Ride show afterwards.
We started talking at the bar and he asked me which other bands I liked (I had seen BRMC a few times by then,
and even more since then) and he made a sort of "Oh wow!" face when I said Beastie Boys.
He said he was curious what other kind of music their fans were into, and guess my answer was more unusual compared to other fans.

Whoa that's pretty awesome! Yeah I can see why he'd be surprised, BRMC seem to be a pretty serious band with a totally different style you know, and the Beastie Boys are more goofy and just completely opposite so he was probably expecting you to say a band related to their genre or something. It was probably refreshing to hear something different and know they have more open minded fans with diverse musical tastes though. But there are connections between the two as far as them both being quality bands, seriously. (y)

Yeah I'm sorta late, I heard of them but never really checked them out for some reason. But then my friend talked me into going to their concert and then I turned all hardcore fangirl and bought all their albums and looked up all the youtube videos/interviews, etc. Then she's like "hey they're doin another show wanna come?" and I was all "No way fuck yesss!" and was way more excited since I knew all their music. And both times we were front and center. So yeah, I'm officially adding them to the list of bands I obsess over. /dork :o
