alright, so i get them, but like, i never get them, usually its a few years in between. well i get something but im not sure thats what it is. last time was terrible, a few years ago, my lips puffed up and a couple days later they were COMPLETELY covered in very tiny white blisteres. nasty. so anyway, i wake up today and my lips are itchy and puffed up so im worried about whats gonna happen, im gonna try to get some abreva but like, does this sound like cold sores to you? normally i thought people only got like, one big bump at a time. god damnit. i feel like this interrupts my getting a job because nobody is gonna hire a girl who's lips are covered in white crusty blisters.

nope.

i used to get regular old normal cold sores every once in awhile, but then i stopped getting them, and then a few years ago i had an outbreak like i described above. right now i look like i got botox injections and tomorrow it'll probably be covered in nastiness.

last time i kinda stopped eating for the duration because if i accidentally hit my lips with my food (hard not to do when you eat) blisters would smash and get ickyness all over it. *puke*

You should really see your doctor if you can. It's a virus, which means you can't really stop it, but there are some very good medications out there that can lessen the severity and duration of an outbreak.

If it starts to happen more frequently, you might want to try and see if you can work out what is triggering the outbreaks. Stress is usually a big factor, because it lowers your resistance and allows the evil virus to say "haha! let me sieze the moment!" Other common things that can trigger an outbreak are exposure to sun and wind and also the onset of your period.

If you've got a good local health food shop, stop by and see if they have something called L-Lysine cream. L-Lysine is an amino acid that can help fight the virus. You can also take it as a supplement (not regularly, only during outbreaks) but is more effective applied topically.

Good luck, cold sores are a pain in the ass and make you feel like a hideous freak, I know -my sis used to get them fairly regularly and really, really hated it. She doesn't get them so much any more as she's gotten older, maybe due to lifestyle changes or just her body chemistry or something, but in her early 20's it was a problem for her.

dont eat peanuts and almonds when youre stressed out. peanuts and almonds have a chemical that helps out the cold sore. i wish i payed more attention in bio so i could tell you the name.

yeah i think its stress related. i got some abreva from the health center today. if it gets as bad as it did last time i got it, i'll have to post some pics. its really super disgusting, like, a normal singular cold sore doesnt even compare.

i thought about telling someone today on the phone that i had a raging case of oral herpes, but i was in a crowd so i decided against it.

no kisses :(
no blowjobs (y)

take lysine.

I was gonna say it but mis cosmo-smarty-pants :p beat me to the punch.

also avoid foods that are high in Arginine. arginine is what activates the herpes/cold sore virus. So you want to avoid it. do some research on the net and you should be able to find lists of foods that contain arginine (stay away from)as well as stuff the contains Lysine (eat lots of).
