Only small stuff for me - like concert tickets, cds, and movie passes from local radio stations mostly. But that has been a long time for me because of not be a radio listener for many years now. When I was only 7yrs. old, I won concert tickets for Heart in '77 by using a rotary phone...which was the fucking "hardcore" way back then wearing your fingers out FAST! having to turn that dial manually a million plus times ! My aunt chaperoned me to that concert and then to Bad Company in '79, which I also won tickets for. It was my first experience of wondering what that funny smell called "weed" was, having no idea because it was being passed around everywhere and almost even to myself. Since though, I've won other concert tickets, movie passes, and cds through radio stations. There was a syndicated radio show called Rockline that I won a couple of autograped posters by several artists/bands on each, such as by the likes of Kiss, Joan Jett, Steve Perry, Meat Puppets, Zakk Wylde and others. The one thing that I've strived to win most through the magazine giveaways and haven't still - is a complete bicycle (even a cheap one would be cool !). I have been lucky enough to win a pair of wheels, tires and grips once about 2 yrs. ago though.
So - what cool stuff have you (family members/friends even included) gotten lucky enough to score, "for free" in any giveaway/contest ?

I keep winning small stuff all the time; videos, records, movie tickets, two years ago two tickets to Hultsfred festival... twice, and there tickets to Accelerator Big One and a T-shirt...
The biggest I've won is a MTV competition: a flight to Dublin to see Therapy? live, meet and greet, stay in the poshest hotel in Dublin for two nights, free drinks and food... for two. Took my friend Lotta along, she was the only one who could come along with such a short notice and would enjoy the music as well. The girl from MTV didn't know Dublin at all so I showed her around.

I think I hit my peak in 3rd grade when I won an ice cream during a lunch time drawing. Not really a big deal now, but in 3rd grade -GREAT!
I won some lego from the local news paper when I was younger via a "spot the difference" thing. I won some cds a couple of years ago but it was nothing I listend to so I gave them away. I'm sure I've won some more stuff but thats all I can think of.....thats quite sad, actually.
Recently I enterd a comp on gnarls barkleys myspace page by design a custom poster....but didnt win.

Not quite the same as 'giveaway' stuff, but when I was a kid in the 70's there used to be a lot more game shows on TV and many of them filmed in New York. My dad was on a bunch of them and used to win all kinds of things. He did quite well really. As I recall over the years this was how we got a washer and dryer, a living room set, a microwave, a 'hi-fi' system, and even a car once. Plus all those boxes of Rice-a-Roni.

In truth, I've never won a single contest in my entire life. Yeah. So I never even bother entering them anymore...

I won tickets to see Prince at a club once. It was the only night of the week that they let people under 21 in, and I was 20 at the time, so my friends were drinking their asses off... while I had to drive them home. There were forms to fill out to enter this drawing (I didn't know at the time what it was for), so I just kept filling them out one after the other.
Sure enough, I won tickets to see Prince. Cool.
That was kind of anti-climatic.
