Cey designs new Beastie Track

Coolest thing this weekend. I happened to sit in the right place in the food court, look up and see the new Adidas store. I walk in and what stares me in the face? A blue (about the color of this message board but bolder) track suit on a manequine with the word "peace" across the front, the Adidas logo and Cey's signature on a change pocket and on the back ... well, you can collect all three. That's right each jacket has a digitally altered shot of Adam, Adam and Mike. The limited edition run was released Sunday and they're already on eBay. There are also some kickin' high tops to go with them. I got mine and it's cool as shit. Only one problem, each suit is $300.00. Do a search on eBay for "adicolor track" to see one. Great work Cey. I love mca and mike d's jacket, cause people could look at them and know who they are. The adrock jacket im not so sure about. I think its sort of undistinquishable.

Hey Cey, I know the pricing isn't down to you and being a designer myself - I know only too well how the designer/trendy/rare item thing works. Thats all cool with me.

I just get really frustrated that every piece of merchandise that has anything to do with my favorite band is just too damn expensive. I'd call myself a collector but when it comes to the end of the month and I've paid my mortgage, car etc etc there aren't enogh readies left to warrant buying a £200 jacket that (when you really break it down) is a £35 jacket with about £10 worth of patches.

I agree with you at 100%. In this fuckin' world people will look at you as a true fan if you are expensive thing. However there are any differences between the fan which buys only the albulms and the fan whish buy expensive collector items... Ah si: the bank account...

This is the men's line and it is beautiful! I've noticed people saying the same thing over the years when the Beasties do things. I remember Yauch saying that most people probably didn't like Paul's Boutique (e.g., "Hey Ladies") because at the time of its release (1989) people were cringing about the '70s look. Now they're rockin' the '80s (and although '80s nostalgia is in) I think people are still cringing over the sound of TT5B and the look they're sporting and now this jacket which is totally '80s cheerleader fabulous. Yauch even said about AIFST that he pushed the limits of what he thought people would like speed-of-image wise. On Fresh Air, he talked about how they would egg the audience on to boo them during the tour where they opened for Madonna. There's definately a little punk left in these guys. They like to make people cringe, push boundaries, etc.

So I have just been around London, and I saw 2 stores with the suit, one place were it was in a locker so I couldn’t see who was on the back of it, (I tell myself it was Yauch :p) and one with Mike.
