Without a doubt, one of the best soul/R&B singers of all-time.
"A Change Is Gonna Come" is a masterpiece.

Definitely - contender for soul voice of all time - some of the more popular stuff is a bit twee but he could give a proper performance on some of the more deeper, soulful stuff

so do you thinks the feds were behind him being shot ? I must admit i'm a little vague and how he was killed exactly but wasn't he shot by a female fan ?
(i know i could just google this but it would be nice if someone actually "knew" something for once you know ?)

My understanding is that he got into an altercation with a manager and some woman at some seedy motel, and then he got shot. The investigation behind the murder was virtually non-existent, too.
So it's anyone's guess what really happened, I suppose...

If you ask me, A Change Gonna Come doesn't have anything on Trouble Blues.

'Change' is absolutely tremendous but for pure sing along silliness, I do love Cupid too. In a similar vein, Solomon Burke was on tv a couple of months ago and he was just brilliant - Cry to Me is probably one of my favorite tracks ever

I like Lou Rawls better, but still one of the greatest.
