Inspired by Ms. Peachy in a way

well I guess schools assume that if your black you wanna join there attempts to make them appear to be diverse (39.7 white, 36.3 Azn,10.6% Chicano/Latino,3.3 East Indian/Pakistani, 2.6% black, .7% Native American) my major is Communication/Psychology (so they tryig to get me to do this off what I marked as a race)

(gotta love the black name)

but point is it seems colleges (espcially in libreal states) really want to try and promote a diveristy that really is kind of non-exsititant (I got accepted already). Oh yea they also sent this

tell me who is the 3 person from the left (up top) and yes I guess he really is that damn influntial with all these schools(good schools too) jockin him. Just thought that was a bit "hahaha" at racial relations moment there.

That happened with my son, who is in an ethnic group that does not have great representation at most east coast universities. Many of the schools with diversity programs came at him hard. When he had campus interviews, they defaulted to making his appointments with advisors/reps who were of his ethnicity. At times, the universities had nothing to offer him in his intended areas of study, but they were somewhat relentless with him anyway. Interesting what some of them were willing to do to serve their demographics.

you have no clue how much ass kissing i got when i was applying to colleges. the way they made it seem, there were 5 smart hispanic people in the country and i was one of them, and by golly i should be a student at their pretigious insititution so i can be a strong hispanic leader in the future.

And then the rep said something about how if he went to graduate school (lb) he'd be the first to get an advanced degree and my kid was like, wrong. It's like the guy had no faith that people of his ethnicity were capable of getting degrees without diversity programs. So, so weird.

I am all for the "we gotta watch out for are race" type of deal since, yes, blacks do have a bad rap(no pun intended) but it's the fact that they didnt even mention the fact that we want you because of your leadership skills, your 3.75GPA(true story 3.10 in high school) or any of that shit. They saw I was going to UCD and saw the box filled in black. Funny thing is who the hell has time to look through all the apps they get (since UCD is a BIG school) to determine who is who.....it's like some old woman named Doris is saying "looks like we gotta another negro" I mean it's cool but it's like don't assume I want to be down with just cuz your black, I know just as many fakes in the community then outside of it.
