View Full Version : Is it censorship, or a glitch?

A few weeks back, I submitted a post (in the politics forum) regarding a huge domestic story that was virtually ignored by the national media, about Tennessee sheriff deputies being convicted in federal court of torturing a drug suspect named Lester Siler, by coming to his house, beating him, dunking his head in a toilet, attaching his testicles, to a battery charger, and holding loaded guns to his head and groin. These criminal cops were caught because the drug suspect's wife had turned on a tape recorder in the kitchen.
My post contained a link to an audio file that is one of the most disturbing events ever caught on tape. Shortly after posting it, I could not access the message board for several weeks. Today I was allowed to log back in, and I noticed my post has been removed. Was the removal of my post deliberate, or was it a glitch, and can I repost the story?
If you need it, here's the audio link. Some people have to copy and paste the link in their browser for it to work:

i'm not at all familiar with this but i'm not the only admin so maybe minton would know what happened.
in general we do not censor on this board unless it's of pornographic or racial nature.

The thread wasn't deleted per se...however we've had a few problems with the server for the last few weeks, as I'm sure you're aware. In that time, we rolled back the database a couple of times to prior dates and so some things post those dates will be gone.

I was just wonderin how much of a pain in the arse is it for you admin people when this sorta thing happens - how much does your workload increase etc.
I imagine quite a bit. Nice one for any work you had to do to help get it back on its feet

It's not too much of a big deal really...We just restore a backup and move on.

Now that the boards are back up, what are the chances the hackers will take it down again?

The probability is around 0.02.

I dont mean any offence by this but if its not a big deal - how come it was down for two weeks. Is that how long it takes to restore - is there a lot of testing to be done. I'm just asking as a person who knows nothing but is interested.

Restoring it only brings it back as secure as it was when it went down...so we took some time to wait for third parties to work out security issues before we kicked it live.

It had to be Tennessee
Let me quess: the gun part sounds like Nashville the testicles to a battery sounds like Bristol
It had to be Tennessee~The only good thing to come out of there were the TVA, that's still there and forever will be, and Al Gore~after he grew a pair and broke out of his statue
