To commemorate George Lucas's long-awaited release of the original version of the first Star Wars trilogy, net-funnyguy Lore Sjöberg bats around some ideas for other box-sets that Lucas can mine our pockets with:

The 8-Year-Old Edition
One of the reasons thirtysomethings get so pissy about Lucas' crimes against continuity is that what they really want is the original sense of wonder, joy and possibility that the movie instilled in them before a deadening, crushing world sucked it right back out again. This edition comes with a brain probe that turns you into an 8-year-old again, at least mentally. You'll watch the entire movie with your mouth wide open, then you'll run around the house making lightsaber noises during the credits. As an added bonus, if you apply the probe twice, you'll turn into a 4-year-old, which will allow you to enjoy the jokes in The Phantom Menace.

:D
I both laughed and felt a little guilty reading this. Thats kinda hit the nail on the head - I hadnt thought of it like that (I am over 30). I aint no mad star wars fan but do really like the first film ( the rest are meh) and this is probably one of the reasons why. Anyway I'm gonna blow this thread and go home.

That I'm not able to appreciate posts like these anymore...

Net-funny guy... star wars 8 year old edition... brain probes... maybe if I hadn't become so cool over the years I'd be able to get a laugh or at least a smile out of all this

Not hating though, if anyone found this funny or was in any way entertained or amused by this "mr. Sjöberg" and his star wars ideas, more power to you... I'm all for spreading joy and making other people's lives a little better through humor even if its about star wars, but it didn't really have that effect on me thats all. Probably because I'm too cool for this kind of stuff.

Yeah its an internet forumso nobody has to pretend... you can just be yourself and if you think something is funny you can just say so. However i thought it wasn't funny and its probably because I'm too cool for jokes about hypothetic star wars boxsets. I could have typed, "LoL!" instead, but I would have been trying to be something I'm not... I can't change who I am and fact is I'm simply too cool for these kind of threads :( I want to fit in I really do but the internet and I grew apart apparently

I'm disappointed, I thought there was going to be a link to a video of 8 year olds acting out star wars.

He (Lore) nailed it for me, that's why I posted it.

It's not a star-wars thing but more so -> how there is a certain timing to wonder. Like people bitch about the latter Lucas films sucking when in reality it's themselves that have grown past the point of amazement.

The same thing can be said for music, can an album appeal to someone in their mid-30's the same way it can appeal to a 17 year-old?

On the flip side - was I blessed to see Star Wars at 6 and listen to Paul's Boutique at 17? Or is there a 19 year old out there today who got the same effect out of Phantom Menace and TT5B?

I have light saber fights to block out the real world.
