I'm sure you're thinking "that's because you don't have it."

No.

I hate the stress it causes and the stupid shit people do to obtain it. I hate the evil it brings out in people. I hate the emphasis our society puts on it even though it's fluid and it could all be gone in the snap of a finger. I hate the fact that the youth of America is being raised to believe that they won't be happy in life unless they have lots of it to spend on tricked out cars and flat screen tvs and piles of shiny, fancy shit they don't need but would have no identity without. I hate interest rates and the stock market and the cluster fuck involved with becoming a homeowner.

Mostly I hate the fact that I need it even though I hate it. Everything I'm planning for in the future will be impossible without money, and that frustrates the shit out of me.

Your wish may be granted sooner than late. There's an idea to get rid of money per se and implement a cashless system through implanted microchips (http://www.beastieboys.com/bbs/showthread.php?p=1188906#post1188906). So we'll finally be a barcode with credits and debits. :) :o :(

For the love of money, people will rob from each other
For the love of money, people will steal from their mother
For the love of money, people will kill their own brother

i honestly don't ever want to be rich. because i know that means that someone else will be poor because of it. i just want to be able to not have to live paycheck to paycheck...

stupid, stupid money.

I dunno, being rich would have it's perks. Wouldn't have to work unless you really wanted to, could take care of your loved ones and give money to various charities you support, could travel without having to worry about how much money you have to pay for your trip or getting time off for it. Oh yes, being rich would be nice. Now being obscenely rich, yeah, don't want that. I don't need so much money that I can, oh, build my own spaceship. Now THAT's an obscene amount. (n)

It would be better to be able to be able to take care of your loved ones, travel and live comfortably without the need for money.

What I hate more than money is the denial of its importance. We wouldn't live in the world we live in without it. It's a fact of a capitalist society. The 'I would feel bad if I had money' thing is a joke, too. Everybody knows they need more.
The people who eschew materialism are most often the ones who have the most.

A NICE PLACE FOR MIDWIVES AND CROSSING GUARDS AND ON AND ON!!!!!!!!!!!!

And Cosmo, being wealthy doesnt automatically mean someone else is poor because of you. If you want to avoid every action and reaction you make in your life that could result in a lesser quality of life for another then just stay home and lock yourself in your room.

I dont hate money, but I dont like it either and there really isnt a viable alternative to it.

I hate it too, trust me. I've seen the worst of it in the Arab countries. People are really segregated because of it.

People are willing, like the Bangledeshi's and Filipinos and Indians to move from their country due to the lack of it and work in some of the most undesireable conditions just to make about a quarter of what we make.

Half of these people, of course all women end up working as maids. It's basically modern slavery. Their passports are taken away so they can't go anywhere. Most of the time they don't get paid and end up committing suicide over it. Over the money in which they didn't receive, the reason why they have gave up everything and moved over there for.

I completely agree with this thread and it's a great topic.

I wouldn't feel bad about having more money. I would still be just as miserable as I am right now, dissatisfied with my life and what I've accomplished to this point, just with more of this thing that I've been taught would make me happy.

Not a single person reading this thread needs anything more than they have. What we see as needing is really just wanting and that's the problem. Our society has become all about getting fancier, newer things and being bored and disinterested with what we have because it's not the latest and greatest, even though it works just fine and is more than what most people have. We have that glutinous attitude to blame for our collective depression and debt.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go watch my tivoed episode of My Super Sweet 16.

one thing I can't stand is hearing about millionaires being referred only to "net worth."

They're still human, a value that exceeds any money and just because they an abundance of it, the phrase, "he's worth such and shuch $$" bugs the shit outta me.
