=D

my dad passed through belgium today on his way to germany for a gig, and i asked him to get me some. it'll be bottled, but home-brewed as oposed to the uk brewed stuff you get now. why did they stop importing?

Radieuse is the only Leffe I found to be drinkable, the others were way too rich. I prefer Duvel, much more refreshing and easy to consume.

i do like duvel, but to be honest i havn't drank a lot of it. i can drink any of the leffe's usually light though.

i was in bruges about two years ago, spent all three days wandering around, eating cheese, drinking beer and then chocolate, in that order, the WHOLE time. this one bar we strolled into at about 11 am, and it was full of these crazy folks dancing around the bar, which then turned into a train, which we jumped up and became a part of which led out the door, down the street into the next bar. what a merry time that was. this forty or so year old woman kept grabbing me to dance with her:)

bruges is beautiful, i definately think its worthwhile...there was this one bar it was SO FUCKING COOL COOLEST BAR EVER. it this crazy device strung up to the door and every time someone walked in all these things would happen the moment the door opened...but they were hidden...it wasnt like you walk in and every turns around at you. all these little things were happening everywhere...little faces peaking out of walls, bats flying around the ceiling, really cool lighting, tons of board games and decks of cards, comic books and crazy books! and a beer list that was about 10 pages long. unbelievable. i ahve to find that place again someday

how do i love thee, stella? let me count the ways. your lovely green bottle, your tasty blend, and the lovely barware (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v116/Bethofcourse/stellabarmat.jpg) that you make...

are yous talking about Stella Artois? cause that's the most overrated beer in the world...after Heineken.

you're not appreciating my friend, go away!

and beth, that a really cool mat! did you steal it from a bar?

drederick will learn to love it when i tie him to a chair and pour it in his mouth after whipping him.

no, i didn't steal it from a bar. a beer rep gave two of them to a bartender i used to work with, and he gave me one. i then took two of the glasses on my last day of work.

Stella is beer for those who don't want to be seen drinking Carling.

Belgian stella is alright. But like becks, heineken and carlsberg, and a number of other generic, mass produced imported brands its all brewed in New Zealand/Australia for the Australian market. Shitehouse. I'd rather drink actual Australian beer: boags premium, little creatures pale, cascade premium, coopers pale and sparkling, james squire pils, and any grand ridge beer.

yeah i did say 'belgian' in the title. and a little further down moaned bout the mass non-belgian brewing of it now.

average

Drederick Tatum

the imported stuff is mediocre. most intercontinental beers are. locally brewed stuff is where it is at, kids.

The alcohol wholesaling company I work for gets the domestic quality version of the imported beers imported into australia, rather than the import quality stuff. It saves money, but the labels are in a different language quite often. Anyway, the point is if I was gonna drink a becks, I'd want a german becks, whether or not its the "import" or "domestic" version, and not the australian crap.

and my point is that even Becks is average compared to what the rest of the German brewing industry has to offer.

Stella is ok, but as long as we are talking belgian beers I'll stick to Orval or Westmalle dubbel.

I agree wholeheartedly. "if I was gonna drink a becks", means if I dont have enough money for a hofbrau, or a schofferhoffer ;)

Bellevue Kreik? Flavoured beers aren't my thing. Plain old pale ales are my favourite.

Hoegardden for me, nice n fresh on a summers day.

For lager it has to be Warsteiner although it is German not Belgian!
