they are caught out in the bush. aborigines used to eat em. no one in 99% of australia does now, unless you out on an outback tour or something. u pull em out of the ground, hold them by their heads, and bite their body off. that tastes like shit, its better if u cook em.

Mosquitos do not bite people who eat vege/marmite as much. This is observable fact, presumably it is the yeast that does it. People who live in hotter climates prefer vegemite to us dingy people.

I think preference to unpleasant tasting but health-beneficial products is an evolutionary adaptation to the dangers of malaria.

well your theory although quite a good one, i think is wrong. coz i never eat vegemite and yet i never get bitten by mosquitos.but i also never eat bananas and apparently mosquitos are attracted to you more if u eat bananas.so my theory is that as long as you NEVER eat bananas you have a good chance of not being bitten.

That doesn't run contrary to the theory. It doesn't say that not eating vegemite guarantees you will get bitten. There could be many reasons why you do not get bitten that do not change the fact that people who do have a propensity to get bitten will not get bitten if they ate vegemite.

i've never eaten vegemite although often i lie and say i have tried it, as i claim to hate it.

the truth is, the smell of it makes me want to yak. once when my bf was very sick and very hungry i spread some on toast for him. that is the closest i have ever been to vegemite.
