View Full Version : drunk at work
we had a little office party today, and there was beer, and i figured hey, two beers won't hurt. then i noticed that they were (emphasis on were) both 6% alcohol per volume. whoops! i wanna go home, but i'm drunk so i'm stuck.
not hammered mind you, but too drunk to drive, is what i mean.

I'm guessing/hoping these were very large beers.
Bob, if you're drunk, you're a softcock.
well like i said, i'm not DRUNK, but i'm vehemently anti drunk driving, so the whole point of this is that i'm too drunk to go home just yet. plus i haven't had a drink in like 3 weeks and it was 2 very strong beers in the period of about 30 minutes and also i don't have to explain myself to you!

Whatever...I wish I could get drunk off of 2 beers.
I just thought most beers were at about 5-6% on average. Don't know much about it though.

well, most of my drinking experience comes from college, which is all about light beers (about 2-3%, i think). i shook that habit about 2 years in, but i thought most were about 4-5, 5 max. 6 seems heavy.
most of the beers i drink don't print their %'s, actually. i don't know what's average.

Alcohol content etc. (http://www.brewery.org/library/AlClbinger.html)
Sam Adams = 4.7 or so
Sierra Nevada porter = 5.34
...my current beers.
Looks like 6% is pretty high for beer.

drunk was the wrong word to use, it's more like i was (was!) buzzed. i was just complaining about not being able to go home, is the point of this.

Its not about being able to drink more though, its about wether to get in a car and kill a couple of people before you crash into a tree and police can't tell the difference between your knees and your eyesockets... or not

no, no. I'm not encouraging him to drive. I'm just challenging him to a drink off. ;) like in the begining of Raiders of the Lost Ark.

ok, now you're just being annoying. 6% may not be strong, but it's not weak by anyone's standards (except maybe the irish or something). it's average at least.
not that getting drunk off two average beers makes me any less of a lady but it was a buzz, damnit

I <3 Bob.
Last weekend I had two beers at my boss/mentor's baby shower. I was far too buzzed to drive, AND I had to concentrate on not saying anything stupid in front of my boss and many of my professors.
I think I still ended up looking stupid, though. Curse you alcoholic beverages!

I'm just busting your chops us all. Everyone has those times when light drinks catch up. Two Mike's Hard Lemonade and half a bottle of 5% wine put me in an intense stupor once. It happens.

I wouldn't necessarily call what he drank a "light drink."
Any beer that has the alcohol percentage printed on the label isn't considered a light drink. I believe if the percentage is over 3.8 it has to be printed on the label.

I used to drink this beer called The Reverend. It comes in a huge bottle and is 9% by volume. Two of these used to get me fucked up good and I'm a drinker. I can hold my own pretty good but two Reverends used to have me on my ass.

As an Irish person, let me chime in.
6% would be considered stronger, seeing as though the average beer is 4%/4.5%. Now of course, you can get your 8%s and all...but 6% would be stronger than average. Certainly not weak. In fact, its competely silly to call it weak.
the strongest beer in the world, incidentally, is 13% (Sami Claus, never again etc.)

I had 5 PBRs on thursday over a period of 4 hours or so. I was feeling drunk already after 2. 3 more and I was naked. I'm pretty sure more than one person saw my boobs.

yeah, dextrahydromorpine or something like that. It's a synthetic form of morphine and you will trip balls off on it.
The world slants at a 45 degree angle whenever I do it and things just quite aren't the same.
When my friends and I were underage, we would walk to the grocery store and all of us would stand in the check-out line with 2 bottles each making fake cough noises.
I'm pretty sure the cashiers really knew what was goin on.
