If Nas' career is hip-hop, then hip-hop is dying, for sure.

i just hate when artists have this ironic title shit.

you know in interviews, he'll be all like "Hip hop is dead and I am the rebirth" or some shit like that.

or like when douchebags name their debut album "greatest hits"

The title is cliche by now, sure. But it's 100% correct.

Nas is creative. I think he really wants to incorporate his name into the title again. Like with NAstradamus.

He should call it IndiaNAS JONES. Or TuNASandwich. Or if he wants to make Jigga happy, The Little Homey.

He's right though. Hip-hop is dying or is dead now, whichever way you want to look at it. I have no ill towards hip-hop, but I feel that it's time to move on and let it go before it's too late. Look what happened to rock n' roll, what a mess. It was breathing it's last life in the seventies and some pukes decide to hold onto it because they are afraid of change and evolution in music. Hip-hop needs to go in order for a new change in music to begin. Rock has become a joke, let not hip-hop too.

hip hop is not dying and is definetly not dead.
guys like talib kweli and the roots are keeping it alive.
hip hop will never die!!

have you heard ghosftace killah's new album? its a good example that hip hop isnt dead

I think it's transparent that hip hop's not dead. It's popularity sure as hell isn't waning. What a dumbass thing to say anyway; 'this genre's dead'. I think 'I do not have an interest in current hip hop' would be more apt.

...but that would make a really lame albumtitle don't you think?

Nas: "I do not have an interest in current hip hop" in stores september 21st...

Just because hip-hop is popular doesn't mean it isn't dying. People try to selfishly hold on to something like that or rock because they are afraid of change and need something to feel comfortable with. Rock died decades ago, but people don't seem to get it or want to get it.

I don't buy that genres like hip-hop or rock should "die" or even are "dead." Sure, specific movements or scenes have long since ended, but that doesn't mean you can't try new things with something old.

Hey, I said 'dying'. Things get better.

I wasn't really responding to the album title so much as the trend of saying 'hip hop's dead'. Couldn't give much of a damn about any new Nas material.

I don't listen to much rock, so I dunno, but I don't understand the idea that a genre can die. Why is hip hop dead? Why isn't its popularity an indication of whether or not it is 'dead'? What do you mean about people "selfishly" holding onto the genre? It's an entertainment form fulfilling its purpose: it entertains its audience. And its artistic validity is, like every damn thing, subjective.

hip hop isn't dead in it's popularity.

its dead in its vibe and hip hop has forgotten where it came from. Hip Hop has gotten too material

sneakers, turntables, graffitti have been replaced with jewlery, half naked women, and cars.

its madness!!!:(

theres some good dudes holding it down ..

but the New York MC's have fallen off hard.

tuff to say

:D
Papoose, Kweli, Common, and others are keeping it nice in the east. I just can't get into that South shit, a lot of it for me is what is ruining hip-hop today (like all that "crunk" bollocks).
