Horovitz tribute lineup a family affair
This summer's tribute to Israel Horovitz is taking shape. Not only will Jill Clayburgh, Peter Boyle, and Lindsay Crouse be feting Gloucester Stage's retiring founder, but so will some of their kin. With his daughter Lucy Boyle and sister Alice Duffy, Boyle will do a reading of Arthur Miller's ''All My Sons" on July 30. (Joe Pacheco, Melinda Lopez, and Richard McElvain round out the cast.) Two days later, Clayburgh reads Wendy Wasserstein's ''The Sisters Rosensweig" with Lily Rabe, her daughter with playwright David Rabe. Also, as part of the send-off, two-time Tony winner Judith Ivey will perform a one-woman show July 24. No word on whether Horovitz's son, Adam, better known as the Beastie Boys' Ad-Rock, will be making the scene.

Hey !!!
Richard McElvain is my son's uncle (dad's side) :)
Wicked funny! Saw Richard on stage in Boston with Frank McCourt in a production depicting Frank's life in the US. It was Richard and Frank who played all the characters in Frank's life: his mom, brothers, the nuns, the priests, everyone! He's also been in a couple movies, teaches theatre / acting...very involved in the theatre (y)

Israel Horovitz had a special on PBS not too long ago. Very proactive during the Vietnam War protests; all them great writers born out of the 60s, even earlier.....Ginsberg, Kerouac, etc. Excellent show. Adam was in and out during different shots of home video taken....and it was way back cuz Ione was on the scene

I'll ask Richard if Adam's planning on attending at least....
Thanks for posting this! (y)

Jill Clayburgh (http://www.dacre.org/stills/webc/Cla0235.jpg), Peter Boyle (http://imdb.com/name/nm0001967/), and Lindsay Crouse (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maggie_Walsh)

I'm sure you know who these people are, even if you think you don't.

Crouse used to be? is? David Mamet's wife. She starred in House of Games, then has done a bunch of TV (Buffy, Alias, etc.).

Peter Boyle -- Taxi Driver, Young Frankenstein, et al.

Jill Clayburgh -- An Unmarried Woman, Starting Over, Luna, et al.

Peter Boyle plays the father on Everybody Loves Raymond...

Crouse is Mamet's ex, he is married to Rebecca Pidgeon, who I thought was good in The Spanish Prisoner...

and while we're at it, Frank MCourt's brother Malachy is running for governor for NY on the Green Party.... Good guy, Malachy...

Nice (y)
Frank McCourt is the man. I know Malachy will do well in NY.... Did anyone see the PBS special on Israel Horovitz?? It was on a long time ago....or am I the only dork in the bunch? I like NPR, too... I have embraced my inner dork.... and I love her.

I've read, like.... one and a half of Horovitz's plays. One was all right, but overall... maybe I just need to see them staged. :(

Yeah, I hear ya. But seeing a play on stage (for me) always presents better than my small brain trying to work out the characters and their emotions when reading one. If Richard is performing with Horovitz, I guarentee electricity :)
