There’s a lot of them, people. The Beastie Boys are making me go all schitzophrenic, I’m not even kidding! :p Even other people like in this (http://www.beastieboys.com/bbs/showthread.php?p=1022273#post1022273) thread are picking up on it. I don’t even have to be high to hear it, just lay down and put on my headphones and listen closely. I’m hearing things!

I was inspired to listen to Paul’s Boutique for the first time in a while, and it’s cool, because if you really concentrate on the music then you can hear certain things differently. Even with the other albums. I’m sure a lot of you already know this, but I didn’t really think much of it before. Okay I’m taking too long to get to the point, so here are some examples:

- You can hear Adrock (I think) say “take PCP” in the begginning of Dropping Names
- You can hear Mike pick up his drum sticks in the begginning of Transitions
- In the begginning of To All The Girls you can hear Matt Dike put the needle back to the begginning of the record

And here’s the one that I just heard on Paul’s Boutique:

Go to track 15, fast forward to 12:21 exactly and listen closely. You can hear one of them say “You like it” and somebody else says “Some of it” or something. Sorry I’m trippin, I know it's not that big of a deal, but this hidden shit is so cool! I’m afraid if I play it backwards, then I’ll get a message from the devil. Or if I play it to a movie, then the music will go with it or somethin. Like when you play Dark Side Of The Moon to The Wizard Of OZ. Blah blah blah...

So yeah. If you find or know of any more hidden shit, list it here. I'm obviously bored. :o

and i could barely hear "free jame brown" in car thief

all i hear is "free"

Yeah see? I think you're attracted to one sound and just hear it, but you're missing something else. It's weird. Like "you only hear what you want". There's probably a lot more of those and we just don't know about it. Jeez, I'm soundin like inspector gadget here. :p

Free James Brown in Car thief at 1:12

Holy fuck you gotta have supersonic ears to hear that. That's creepy. The whole time I'm listening to that turntable thing and I never heard that. But he says that! He's like "free...james...brown".

Yeah I heard that thing where MCA was laughing, he's like "Bum bum bum" then he laughs, yeah I would too. I'd feel weird doin that. :D

But speaking of noticing things! I noticed MCA must have changed his mind on one of his edits. I noticed this when I was watching AIFST in the movie theater. But remember this (http://s04.picshome.com/cdf/ooh.jpg) guy from the brass monkey video? Well on this version there's like a rainbow thing coming out of his hands or eyes. But I remember on the AIFST version there's some spaceship thingie shooting stuff at his hands and it looks like he's blocking himself from it. I notice the most pointless things. :o Just thought I'd share.

I heard that too! It sounds like some dude talking on a walkie talkie, I forgot about that. That's pretty trippy.

2 more I forgot to mention!

On Lighten Up, if you go to 1:16 through 1:40, it's like the quiet part of the song, then it sounds like somebody's whispering but you gotta listen closely. I'm not sure if I'm being paranoid again like it could be one of the instruments, but it sounds like it! I just can't make out what he's sayin.

And on Paul's Boutique again! On What Comes Around, go to 2:43 through 2:52, it sounds like Mike is saying more then what's on the lyrics, I just can't understand because the others are talking over him. But I can hear him say "You know what I'm sayin" and it's like, no I don't know what you're sayin. :p That's not really a hidden message, but...I donno, just didn't notice it.

Not exactly hidden, but if you have a doly pro logic system you can shut off your front speakers and it will isolate certain tracks to the rear only.

Jimmy James, The Scoop, THe Maestro and others are cool to listen to like this.

In something's got to give you can hear someone saying ahhh baby.

Sorry I'm a pot-head (not really). I used to mess up and think the song Son Of Neckbone was "son of a neckbone" hahaha. I think that subliminally fucks my head up. Maybe I need to check my head, OHHHHH! :D

And I found another one though, but it's not really a big deal.

On 3 Minute Rule, at about 0:37 somebody says "D" I think, and I don't think it's that echo thing because he never said that. Just tryin to keep the thread alive. :o Oh also at about 3:11 there's this ticky sounding thing that I never noticed and then it sounded like somebody whispered.

On Do It about about 3:03 I hear somebody talk, maybe somebody can hear what they're sayin. I think like, when they're recording it that stuff accidentally gets in there though unlike the "Free James Brown" and "Take PCP" thing. But it's still cool to notice!

Yeah I love the whispering in Shadrach, you just realized it?! In Time To Get Ill from about 2:08 through 2:12 when they're sayin the lyric "Coolin' on the corner with a forty of O.E..." I hear someone goin "Oooooeeeeeeoooeee" hahah, I don't know if that's a sample though.

This thread is just for pointin out things you haven't heard before. It's for people that listened to all their albums a million times I guess, like me. :o

word, it makes me feel silly that i missed some of these things, that once someone points it out, you keep hearing it from then on

it's not like "oooh if you play rhymin' and stealin' backwards, there's a message from satan saying to kill the innocent..."

but "oooh i hadn't heard that before. that's pretty cool." :D

i think somewhere in this thread it mentioned adrock at the end of the new style, saying something like "stupid ho!" he just yells it right at the end, i just noticed that :P
it was really quiet, could've been an overactive imagination, but you be the judge!

Exactly! I just thought it'd be a good idea for a thread because we're discussing things about the music you know. And I think Adrock's sayin "Brooklyn ho!" I don't know if he means ho as in a slut, or just "hoo!" though. :p

brooklyn comes first, stupid later :P
michelle said she heard it, so we might both be crazy.

and the whispering in lighten up, someone should find out what he's saying!
and boomin' granny has a lotta dialogue going on behind the scenes, i'm pretty sure.

Meanwhile, back in AIFST. I've been listening with headphones and I can't believe all the tweakin' and fuckin' they did with the audience noise. Yeah, they mixed it low, but they also do funky shit with it like looping some dude whistling and isolating shouts. Unless I'm crazy, watch it again, close your eyes and listen to the audience noise for some strange fuckin' with it shit.

I know Horovitz kinda distances himself from AIFST's production and Mike's said very little, but I wonder if they had a hand in the sound mix.

I think its really cool in 'putting shame in your game when' someone says 'its like lotto you've got to be in it to win!'

i also noticed that at the end of one of the songs on licsenced to ill someone goes 'mmmbeat drop!' and its also used in intergalactic!

omg you have probably heard of this before but on the prodigy song 'funky shit they actually used adrocks little hi pitched 'oh my g-d thats the funky shit!'

this thread is getting soooo sad!!!!

The guys are admittedly continuous tweakers. And Yauch did say that some of the audio was used/borrowed from other Pageant shows.

On the nerd tip, I think MMM's track for Intergalactic from the Voodoo show sounds like the same one that they ended up using for AIFST.

Holy fuck you gotta have supersonic ears to hear that. That's creepy. The whole time I'm listening to that turntable thing and I never heard that. But he says that! He's like "free...james...brown". :eek:I think I always noticed (subcaunciously) something was there but never really knew what it was.

I was just looking at this (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/multimedia/photo_gallery/0608/gallery.coach.player.dustups/content.4.html) and it reminded me of this Hello Nasty's Unite lyric:

Goin' off the hook like Latrell Spreewell
I've got the ill technique so you know me fe well
We be kickin' bass all up in your face
And when it comes to beats well I'm the rhythm ace

the Knicks signed Latrell the summer that Hello Nasty was released, in the 1998 offseason... Mike D had a feeling...

and looky what he's hot himself into these days... (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=AgCty3lskrDOgCFehOS_nu68vLYF?slug=ap-sprewellallegation&prov=ap&type=lgns)

Police questioned former NBA player Latrell Sprewell on Wednesday in connection with a sexual assault allegation.

A 21-year-old Milwaukee woman reported a sexual assault on a boat at the McKinley Marina on Tuesday, but Milwaukee police spokeswoman Anne E. Schwartz would not discuss the specifics of that alleged assault.

He was a four-time All-Star, but remains most known for several off-court incidents -- including a 68-game suspension after choking Golden State Warriors coach P.J. Carlesimo at a practice in 1997.

The NBA suspended him for one game in 2004 after he yelled a sexual vulgarity at a female fan who was heckling him during a game.

In December 2003, Sprewell was fined $25,000 by the NBA for cursing at New York Knicks chairman James Dolan and screaming at the team's bench. In 1999, Sprewell was fined $10,000 for making profane remarks to fans during a game.

In November 2004, he received a misdemeanor citation after arguing with a police officer during a traffic stop. Sprewell, who was a passenger in the vehicle, claimed he was treated unfairly.

I had 3 MC's and one DJ playing backwards the other day and I heard "Illinois" towards the end. I'm sure it's a coincidence but it was still cool.

On Do It about about 3:03 I hear somebody talk, maybe somebody can hear what they're sayin. I think like, when they're recording it that stuff accidentally gets in there though unlike the "Free James Brown" and "Take PCP" thing. But it's still cool to notice!

Here's one. Not so much a hidden message as such, but a cool little audio glitch on 'B-Boy Bouillabaisee'.

Go to around 9:42, and when the beasties drop into accepella to say "'cus I got more flavour than fruit stripped gum", you'll notice that whilst they edited the backing music from the final mix you can still *just* hear the sample carrying on behind their voices, as it was picked up coming out of the Beasties headphones by their microphones.

Give it a listen, you'll see what I mean.

In Ch-Check It Out you can hear MCA speaking in a weird wheezy voice and he makes Mike D laugh whilst he's saying "Like Lorne Green ya know I get paid". You can tell Yauch did it to make Mike fuck up but they thought it sounded cool so they left it in there. (y)

On Shadrach at 1:61, Adrock gets his guitar out and hits Mike over the head with it. If you turn your volume up as high as it goes, you might just be able to hear it.
