Most famous? Hmm...hard to say. Also, what are the specifics of "met"? I've had a picture with a whole lotta folks. The most famous of those would be:
Al Pacino
Nicole Kidman
As far as actually talked to, etc. That's a different story.

Sir Sean Connery, a couple of times. A close relative of his used to be my next door neighbour.
I've met lots of other famous people as well; I think if you live in a place like London, New York, LA, etc it's kind of par for the course that you will now and again.

"Met" as in "actually shot the shit with"?
Probably John Mellencamp (we talked flutaphones and recorders), Mike Dirnst (sushi/Miyuki's chef Wallace), and Perry Farrel/Eric/Stephen Perkins (talked Bob Dylan and misc.). I talked to Wayne Gretsky pretty briefly but didn't really know who he was, otherwise he'd probably be the most "famous."

I guess the most famous would be Tony Blair. I've also met Gary Lineker, Steve Redgrave, Trevor Brooking, Alistair McGowan and that Ronni Ancona woman, Caroline Aherne (the woman from the Royle Family who plays Mrs Merton), I guess that's it. They were nearly all incredibly boring.

Tom Selleck. My family and I were having brunch at the Ritz Carlton in Chicago and we saw Tom get on an elevator.
"Lets follow him!" my cousin whispered.
We dashed over to the elevator and jumped in with Tom. I stood next to Tom, and my cousin stood across from him, stareing like a stalker and grinning like a fool. We all rode the elevator all the way down, and when Tom left the elevator and got into his limo, I took an awesome paparazzi shot.

I have met an awful lot of bands, as a big fan I've always been (and abroad when trying to get to gigs for free... :D ) Met U2 several times in 1980-1982, once at Roskilde when they were leaving Bono saw me standing by the gate and he asked the driver to stop the bus so I could come along with them to the airport. They were taking a small plane to Belgium to some festival (I have photos). I talked with the Edge all the way, about photography, but never dared to ask if I could come along on their flight. I bet I could've.
Also I've met Radiohead several times. Thom wrote back to me (and I also got a postcard from Yauch) when I was recovering from a serious operation ten years ago. We met several times and he's such a sweetheart.
Yauch is also a real gentleman, he took his woolly cap off when I went to talk to him the first time. And he remembered me later.
A few weeks ago Nanne Grönvall (one of those Eurovision singers) was at my pre-school, they filmed a sketch where they made fun of her shortness and she pretended to be a kid and came to kindergarten for lunch. She was nice. the show was re-run last night so I could see it. Liam (my favourite kid) was really cute!

I guess it would all depend on the definition of "met".
Are we talking "hey, can I take a quick photo?" and 5 seconds later they're gone.
Or are we talking "Hey you're ______!" and 45 minutes later, youre still yapping with them.
I have a pretty long list of athletes that I've met through the years that fit into category #1, and a few in #2.
I have some decent athelte stories, but most of you don't follow sports that much, and probably wouldn't know who I was talking about half the time.
As far as non-athelete celebrities, I'd have to say the guys from 2 Skinnee J's. I was visiting my buddy who went to school at U of Maryland, and they were playing there back in 98 or so, So at the time, I wouldn't consider them celebs, actually most still wouldn't, but they came back to my buddy's frat house after the show and we all hung out for the night.

****I used to work the wrestling matches in High School****
I have worked in the media for nearly 20 years & I met most of these through work----
I would say my favorite was.........a tie between Al Davis and Andre the Giant
They were both funny and I will always remember the meetings.
Al Davis was talking with the Governor of Virginia George Allen the son of the Hall of Fame coach of the same name. I was on the field covering the game and I knew Gov Allen from covering politics (His brother Bruce Allen was the General Manager of the Raiders). I said hello and Gov Allen introduced me to Al Davis. I shook his hand and said--- I am a huge Raider's fan. He was wearing all black and sized me up and then stated--Steve, Once a Raider Always a Raider! Then he strutted away. He was like a slimey old Elvis.
Andre the Giant was in the locker room and I was delivering Cokes and water to the wrestlers. I walked in and saw this HUGE disheveled man drinking a beer and the can looked like a thimble in his hand. I asked if he needed a Coke and he said---yeah! I need some mixer and pointed in his locker at 2 Jack Daniel bottles---then he laughed---a booming laugh so guttural that
I believe the term guttural was invented for his laugh.
I had a friend that waited on him the next day at breakfast. She said he sat on 2 chairs, ordered and ate---a dozen scrambled eggs, a loaf of french bread, 10 large slices of ham, a bowl of oatmeal, 3 bananas and 2 bottles of red wine. I will always remember that order and my meeting with the Giant.
***Some of course will remember him from the Princess Bride.

I served at the table of former canadian prime minister Jean Cretien 3 years ago around christmas.
Previously i'd seen him play through a hole every odd Tuesday at a local private gold course. He always had a cart riding ahead and behind his cart. Full of big fat white guys.
He's more notorious than famous around here.

oh fuck, i forgot!!!
a few years ago the queen and pres. clinton were in australia the same time. my uncle (whos rich) funded a new wing at the elderly lutheran home in the barossa valley, and the queen was to open it. i was up there visiting my grandma, who lives in the home, and it turned out that myself and my uncle were the queen's official hosts for her time in adlaide. fuckin hell, we got briefed for hours beforehand from the queens ppl about proper protocol. anyway i drove back to adelaide that day, only to get a call from my aunt to say that clinton was visiting the womens and childrens hospital, where she has a high up position or something, and would i like to come along? so my aunt and i showed clinton around the hospital. all the ladies were going ga ga. so there u go, i met both the queen and clinton on 2 consecutive days!

A WWF guy but I can't remember his name...he was real big and tan and had long blonde permed hair. Shit that's only 75% of them.
Oh, and Don Knotts.
My wife and I were at a bar in St. Thomas a few weeks ago, and were talking to the only other person there and telling her about how we were extras in a Ron Jeremy movie.
This dude ends up sitting down with some chick that never grew out of her Motley Crue groupie phase. He had some wine and laughed at our stories about being "on set", and left.
After he left the bartender said "Did you guys know that you were talking to Lance Armstrong?"
We didn't.
The End.

Last week the little lady and I went to a fine French restaurant. We had Grolsch with the oysters then a bottle of Echeveeria merlot 2002. In the course of the meal & of course I ended up drinking most of the bottle.
The Kings son's wife and posse of 16+ shows up~Her and her friend sat directly behind me. As we all know, I'm not cut from the finer cloth. So everything I said from pass the pepper to is my fly open was met with scorn looks and little input~anything involving anything to do with the King is taboo. Anyways, another group of important people drove by with sirens blaring and much noise made. That's when I asked Mint~Hey, when these guys showed up did they make all that racket? and of course no answer was given. She told me when we left that the Kings Sons Wife asked her friend the very question after I asked it.
So I'm speculating that they would want to make even more noise to outdo the other people. Mint, on the other hand, is the polar opposite. All I know is that if you wipe your mouth off with the table cloth, noone will pass you their business cards.

HAHA!! Don Knotts would have been awesome to meet... coincidently I also watched a biography on him...
there are a few people I wish I'd meet and ya never know here.
I've already met some of the "famous" people whose work I respect and enjoy... I didn't list all the people I've met (not that I have a huge list or anything b/c I don't.) I don't usually say anything to them unless I find myself engaged in conversation before I realize who they are..
