Should I feel bad about that?

I made that thread about boners while I was at work yesterday. That is CERTAINLY a no no.

If you're supposed to feel bad about this over one week then I should be burning in hell for all eternity.

i do things at work when i'm supposed to do them, i'm pretty diligent really. too diligent, actually, i always run out of stuff to do. then i feel bad about posting here, and i'm always looking over my shoulder and alt-tabbing to an excel spreadsheet or something, but seriously, i've got nothing to do. plus i get paid absolutely dirt, and i don't have an internet connection at home, so what else am i gonna do.

does anyone else get nervous when they post from work?

i hope my boss doesn't read this

I clear my internet history like every 5 minutes.

i'd do that too, but i think they'd get suspicious if they noticed. i don't know if they bother noticing me. i get my stuff done. i don't spend as much time on the internet here as everyone else does talking to each other and taking personal calls. i'm not the bad guy here! this is a witch hunt!

damn, i can't believe i missed your boner thread. i'm a HUGE fan of boners. perhaps i'll look for it shortly.

you absolutely should not feel bad. i'm sure it evens out with weeks where you do more than you have to without extra pay. that's the way i look at it when i get into work at 10:30, or leave at 3pm. most days i don't take a lunch, and i'm usually at the jail late in the evening or on the weekend.

i never post from work. since i work for the state, they know when you spend time online when you shouldn't be, and they also monitor emails. :( here and there, i'll check my regular email just so that i don't look suspicious by not ever going to a non-work related site.

I've got work to do -- a rarity at this job -- but I need to spread it out so that I still have stuff for June. Up until we got some new software for my documentation about four weeks ago, I literally would have maybe one to two hours of work per week.

So I surf and post pretty openly, because I think everybody here knows the score. And, though I'm making more money than ever before, I get the feeling I'm making so much less than any of the other guys that I'm not on the radar in a way that I would be if I were being compensated at their level. Maybe.

i don't see what you're worried about, bob.

it isn't like your boss could go to this site and just figure out who you are by checking screen names.

No. Not as long as I clear my history and delete all my cookies and saved passwords before I leave at the end of the day.

And for the record I do actually get my work done.

yeah, that was a lack of foresight on my part back when i made the name. well, if they don't like it, they can give me more work. or a raise. whatever

I have done so, so much in the last two months. I'm just finishing up two cool projects that will have international distribution. The teams that I worked with: huge, sprawling groups and we all had perfect chemistry. I sort of want it to be a few months ago so that this stuff was just starting over again. :) I am on the brink of finishing one of those projects; the other will be finished by mid-June. I'm starting two more projects that will be pretty interesting and with wide circulation, broad impact (although these will not have an international flavor to them).

Normally, I edit and do some writing of pieces in fairly static sorts of categories. This wass stretching well beyond that. It's just been cool. I'll stop drooling now. (It's just nice when work is dynamic and challenging.)
