Triple J is now the only decent station in Australia. Although MMM is getting better in a retro sorta way, moving away from nickelback, maroon 5 etc towards old school stuff with the cold 40 and stuff.

We have pretty good public radio and I have XM, so yes.

When I was in another large US city last month, I rented a car and had to listen to regular radio. It was strangely comforting to find the classic rock station and I believe I made it through a whole Eagles song without turning the dial. (Yes, the rental car had a dial!)

radio is for people that need other people to tell them what to like, because it certainly doesn't cater to people that already know what they like.

I'll listen to a few songs at a time on the radio, more just until I hear a song I like or see how many good songs they'll play in a row before they stumble onto a turkey.

I do appreciate public radio, but sometimes you have to sit through a bunch of throat singing or something a tad too whacky before I'll hear something I'm interested in, as well.

yeah ok. sometimes its good to hear what's on offer, what's new, that kind of thing.

unless you sit on the internet and seek out new music, then how else do you get to hear new music?

ps. the radio station i listen to caters to what i like. sometimes they cater to what i don't like too, so they aren't telling me what to like.

There’s a digital radio station, that plays different hip-hop from mainstream to underground, and there’s no ads, or stupid people that’s trying to say cool things.

There’s also one with jazz I like, but actually I don’t listen to radio that much, but when I do it's these…

I listen online to BBC Radio 4 (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/) 'cause I wear glasses and I'm smart. as for music, my Winamp on random is more than enough.

This is one of the few stations I listen to regularly (and to their news and talk shows - yes, this is considered a liberal radio station) because they play pretty much every type of music except classical: KPFT.org

But to be honest I'm partly posting this to put in a plug for their cool "Technology Bytes" call-in computer help show, which starts at 8:00pm (15 minutes from now) and is broadcast from right here in Houston. Via the KPFT site (http://houston.kpft.org/site/PageServer?pagename=wednesday), it's also streamed over the web via RealPlayer & Winamp. Their own site (http://www.geekradio.com/) only offers Realplayer.

The three usual hosts, besides lots of computer knowledge, have good senses of humor and can be really funny. Also, quite a few of the callers inadevertantly cause laughter because they can be TOTALLY clueless about computers ("First sir, what do you own, a Mac or a PC?"........"Uhhhh, what do you mean?") they call in drunk; someone in the background is drunk and yelling at them, etc.

When the groovy Moog synthesizer version of Weezer's Buddy Holly comes on, you know you got the right station.:D

95.3 FM in Miami is awesome. They just started broadcasting in Miami, and I've loved what I heard. I first heard them last Tuesday when they played "Sure Shot". That immediatley got my attention, since radio stations in Miami don't play the Beastie Boys for some reason. The DJs play whatever the fuck they want, so the music goes from genre to genre, new and old, obscure and mainstream. It's awesome. I make sure to listen to it whenever I'm in the car.
