This weekend Berlin got it's new cenral station. It was a very big
opening-event with a gigantic lightshow (pic1 (http://www.spiegel.de/img/0,1020,632962,00.jpg), pic2 (http://www.spiegel.de/img/0,1020,632946,00.jpg) and pic3 (http://www.spiegel.de/img/0,1020,632951,00.jpg)) and
about 500.000 visitors. The night before, I saw the light-test (not
knowing what it was) and thought that aliens had come to rule us.
As I heard about that grand opening I decided to go there. I thought
there might be about one or two-thousand others crazy enough to
watch an opening show of a station . I was proved wrong: it
was not easy to get there as the whole area around the new station
was closed for cars and trains. So my freinds and me had to walk
about 2 miles from our car to the show. But it was really worth it.
When we walked back to the car after the show I heard someone
screaming but didn't care to much about it, until I heard what must
have happened just a few steps away from us to 36 people !!! A 16-
year old boy ran amok and attacked 36 people. Luckily, nobody was
killed, although some had very serious injuries. And the next thing
I heard in the news was that one of his first victims is HIV-positive.
Now the 36 victimes have to wait 6 months to see, if they're okay.
The 16 year old jerk (of course drunk as a Strandhaubitze) says that
he didn't do it - he can't remember anything.
It's a pitty, too, for the organizers of the show, because they spent
about 2 million EUR only for the light show, and noone cares, after
what happened now...
So that's good and bad times in Berlin.
