I might be the only person who didn't enjoy this movie. Maybe if I watch it one more time, I'll change my mind, who knows.:p

that film is the cinematic equivalent of gnawing on a piece of sugar cane for 90 minutes.

I want to see that film so badly.

*sees DVD on friend's desk*

"Amelie! I've heard that's good, is it good?"
"Yeah, I love it a lot."
"I've always wanted to see it, like for years."
"mmmhmm"
"Like, for a long time."
"Yeah."
"I'd like to someday..."
"I'm gonna get the phone."
"That's a good idea."
*messes up DVD pile*

The images are very pretty though the story is quite thin. It doesn't bother me though, because everytime I sortof fall in love with that bloke that she's chasing. Yeah, I'd do him. Shame he's french though.

The phone is ringing. It's probably the repo men coming to sort you out for being soooo spiteful.

it's a nice looking film, but the story annoyed me a bit. i think you have to be in a certain kinda mood to watch it. maybe i should give it another chance.

I liked it, but after a while, seeing this woman meddling in everybody's lives made me feel a little queasy. If Audrey weren't so amazingly cute, I'm not sure it would've worked.

LOVED the lawn gnomes travelling, though.

Overrated... its like people who only watch "X-men" and "Jurassic park" kind of movies put this in their top 10 cause they think it makes them look sophisticated or something. Its aight but theres about a million better movies that get a lot less recognition.

Yeah Donnie Darko was just plain bad. I didn't like that one at all.

I see that a lot. They'll list all these popcorn movies and claim to be a big movie fan and then there is Amelie in their list or Donnie Darko, which sucked.
So I value your opinion, Norcen, and you're saying to punt on Donnie Darko, which I've never seen and which is edging up in my Netflix queue. I did like Amelie, but I can't quite remember why.

No, please don't. For your own sake.

Donnie Darko's suck factor is that it's a mediocre, interesting mess with a couple of good scenes and lots of forced quirkiness.

Take away the "interesting mess" part and you've got Napoleon Dynamite.

Punt it out of the park.
I read that, Norcen, and went straight to Netflix and booted it from my queue.

Bye bye Darko. Hello Noam Chomsky!

Thanks. I appreciate that! Don't think I know anyone who knows as much about movies. Cool.

I liked the moody quality of Donnie Darko and frankly I have long had a bit of a thing for the Gyllenhall family so I'd have given it a B when it came out. I wouldn't care to see it again or own it. If I saw it for the first time today, it would be ruined by all the hype I've heard about it.

I adored Amelie because I had no expectations and it was clever and beautiful to look at. I loved the troll thing and the photo booth/photo album things.
