Well, at the very least, he is a very high profile figure saying some things that need to be said. Late or not.

In the interview Mr Gore also distances himself from Tony Blair on the subject of nuclear power, which the prime minister has insisted is "back on the agenda with a vengeance". Mr Gore says he is "sceptical about it playing a much larger role," and that although it might have a part to play in Britain or China, it will not be "a silver bullet" in the fight against global warming.

In the US, Mr Gore's environmental campaign has sparked a backlash from some on the right who accuse him of scaremongering. A series of television advertisements, launched by a thinktank called the Competitive Enterprise Institute, argue that carbon dioxide emissions are a sign of American productivity and progress.

I wonder if the writer could keep a straight face while penning this.

Yeah, I think it's important that this information be taken seriously. (http://www.beastieboys.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=66906)

And I'll tell you what's sad: This statement will be used against him, effectively, by the right wing.

The right is good at attacks of this sort, that 'liberal' such a dirty word compared to 'right-wing', that this will be more effectively used against him and the Democrats.

I can hear it now: Sen. Douchebag on the floor of the Senate "New England liberal Al Gore (*Booing*) just called Bush a right-wing extremist (*booing*). But really, he's a pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage, pro-death tax liberal (*booing*)!"

Aren't politics grand?

Typical California-limosine-liberal clap-trap.

Geography! Ha! What next, teaching 6 year olds how to put a condom on a cucumber? You liberals make sick.

I want to see this, but I dont think it should have been theatre released though, more like CNN Special Report or something for everyone to watch...unless the proceeds are being donated to help the cause, in which if it is I will just shut up right now.

Just got back from this movie...

Simply...

GO. SEE. IT.

It really doesn't matter whether you think global warming is a reality or you're a skeptic over the issue, you should go see it either way as I think all walks of life will come out with some insight shed on this matter.

What was good about the movie was that it wasn't blatant fear-mongering or straight up doomsday, apocalyptic prophesizing. Not only did it present the problem in an eloquent, eye-opening matter, but it presented actual SOLUTIONS to it. And it involves how each and every person can make their own impact by switching to energy-efficient forms.

It's all here:

Al Gore on Charlie Rose this week:

CR: Do you think the president [Bush] had an opinion on this when he ran for the presidency?

AG: Iraq?

CR: Yes.

AG: I don't think that Cheney had yet told him he was going to invade Iraq.
