Which is more annoying/dumber/more uncouth?

Can something actually be just plain couth? Anyway, we all know the reason why people buy Louis Vuitton bags is because everybody knows what they cost and they are pretty recognizable. I bet if I started making purses with KING OF ROCK in huge print on them and I'd sell them for a thousand dollars and I'd give a few out to Justin Timberlake and Kevin Federline or whoever is "h0t" at the moment, they'd start selling like crazy. Louis Vuitton bags scream nouveau riche or nouveau not riche at all but I'm still trying to ball even though I can't buy any food for my kids.

Pirates on the other hand are just plain annoying now, they used to be cool back when I used to play with lego's but they lost their appeal.

I have a hard time justifying that sort of expense for lots of things. It's a personal choice and I don't begrudge other people when they disagree with it; I just don't like to spend big money on stuff like meals or clothes or accessories or anything that maybe just boils down to conspicuous consumption.

Friends of friends of mine often go to trendy (read: expensive) restaurants and spend so much money on meals and what they get is interesting in a cubist sort of way, but I tried it and I hated it mostly for its pretense and expense.

And those choices are not a matter of parsimoniousness, rather, they involve asking myself whether I really need this thing and wondering if I can do something better and more helpful or longer lasting with this [relatively enormous amount of] money. The answers are usually no and yes respectively.

however, I spend a lot of money on other things that people might scoff at, so to each their own I suppose.

But I always found name brand bags to be OUTRAGEOUS in price, and really ugly.
