Kingdom Hearts 2

yeah, I've been playing a little of that too.

It was just a curiousity thing because part 1 got all kinds of awesome reviews. I hadn't played part one but because of the reviews, I decided to pick up part 2 since it was getting great ratings.

I don't know, it seems to be going too slow and alot of the side quests are kid based.

I've only encountered one main boss and I put the game down shortly after that because it seemed to drag on.

i found a copy of fucking REZ at my local EB for $40, i couldn't believe it. i was home and playing it before i was even able to process the information. i just kinda sat there slack-jawed staring at the screen for about an hour, i'm only two levels in. i don't know how many there are. anyways it's cool.

i rented and returned psychonauts recently. that game is really excellent, i advise checking it out. it reminds me conker's bad fur day in a lot of ways. it's funny, it's a joy to play, go, try it.

i'm also playing mark ecko's getting up, which seems to be prince of persia with spraypaint and gang wars. i'm not too far in but it seems ok i guess. controls are a little clunky, but it's still fun. the music's great, too.

the first three hours of that game fucking boooooorrrrriiiiiinnnnnng. but i promise you, it picks up after that. it still moves a little slow, the plot kinda drags a little (but not as badly as the first three hours), and it is very kid-based (it's a disney game, what do you want) but the gameplay is a blast.

my biggest complaint is that there are far too many cutscenes. it's like metal gear solid, only they're boring. the gameplay is still fun, though. just pull an MST3k and make fun of the cutscenes as you watch them, i don't know.

Bob
06-01-2006, 10:58 AM
it's an older game, i don't know how old. it's hard to describe, but i'll try. it's an on-rails shooter, where you shoot the enemies that appear on the screen, but the thing is, when you shoot them, it makes music, so as you're shooting enemies, you're creating music as well. and the controller vibrates a lot. and the graphics are really psychadelic, they pulse and shit. it basically puts you into a trance.

like i said, it's hard to describe and even harder to find a copy. i can't believe i did. unless they re-released it without telling me or something.

Bob
06-01-2006, 01:05 PM
Yeah, I played the demo of Rez back in the day. It's real nice. As you said, it puts you into a trance.

yeah, i was playing it for about 5 minutes before i realized that my mouth was hanging open a little bit. i wasn't drooling, but another few minutes and i may have been.

it's not like it's an incredibly deep game, it's just point and shoot, mostly. i don't think it even has a plot. but it's very...sensual, if that makes sense.

hmm, I'll have to check this REZ out. Another one that has caught my eye is Killer 7. It gets shitty ratings but when I read from some underground people, they say it's artistic and trippy as well.

I'm also going to break out KOH2 now that Bob has me a little more psyched about it.

Yeah, it's a Disney game so I did expect some kid based side missions but it just seemed to drag out too far after 2 hours.

I do admit though, the first boss battle was intense, hopefully there's even better ones.

Bob
06-01-2006, 01:48 PM
as you unlock more moves, the battles get more and more fun. but yeah, that first three hours is just awful, i don't know how that got past QA. oh well. you only have to do it once. unless you want to start over.

rez is really really hard to find, i'm really amazed that i found it at electronics botique. usually you can only find it on ebay for lots of money. somebody's mom must have sold it or something.

Ultimate soccer manager 98, Hereford United, winning FA cup from Conference division by playing an ultra defensive 8-1-1, maintain possession formation and taking every FA cup match to penalties, before moving from division 3 to 2 to 1 to premiership in consecutive years  As an example, by the end of first year all my original lineup was axed for youth players/better players from the transfer list bar the goalkeeper. By selling all my decent players for youth players, I saved heaps in wages, and was able to put all my funding towards youth training. By the time i was in premiership division every one of my youth players had kept their spot, with several being rated 99 at their respective important skills (ie shooting for a striker, keeping for a keeper).

Ohh man that game was great.

I created two versions of myself, one with a mohawk and army pants, the other with a shitload of tatoos and a bitchin entrance that included Booker T's pyro, Batista's music, and red everything.

Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45

Downloaded via Steam. Much more realistic feel and gameplay than Day Of Defeat, plus some great maps and ability to play with tanks. (y)

i've resorted to stalking with a knife and killing instead of shooting though.

that's the way to play! on my first play through, i didn't know how to do close combat, i didn't know you could hold down circle and do the cool shit. i was just punching and kicking :(

the game's so fun, i swear. i like to grab guards and interrogate them. if they're nice to me, i knock 'em out. if they're mean, i kill them.

Harvest Moon

i have the snes version and million other versions too but the snes one is the only one i play

well anyway the game is good but even better the way im playing it
like im buying cows just to let them die, when im going to the village im running around, hiding myself in or behind houses, making sure no one ever talks to me or sees me (aka staying underground) and telling those fags who want to borrow my shit to fuck off before ill get my gun

well yeah it's always my personal goal to become the biggest asshole in town
and im good at it, too good if you ask me

how the fuck do you do that!?

you grab them with circle, then you click in the left analog stick, and hold it. sometimes they'll reveal useful information, sometimes they won't. just make sure you lightly hold the circle button so you don't accidentally kill them.

Bought pursuit force for the psp today. It's damn hard but I like it so far.

I play a bit of Winning Eleven 10 on the psp occasionally.

I play a LOT of Baseball Stars 2 on the PSP (neo geo emulator).

Last game I finished was Syphon Filter on the PSP.

I've put passively cooled ancient video card (g400) in my pc because the noise of the 9700 and 9600xt I tried was annoying me too much so I haven't been playing many pc games lately.

Last pc games I played were Thief 3 and Painkiller.

good fucking game. i have a couple of small-nit picky problems with it.
1 - the ammo in each magazine. m16's (m4's) have 95 bullet long magazines. mp5's have....60 i think? very un-realistic but it helps as i go to explain the next problem i have with the game.
2 - the 'health' of the enemy. fuck me you need to empty alot of ammo on these guys to kill them. they visible have body armor but fuck, a whole magazine needs to get them down.
3 - controls. nothing wrong with them but after you've been playing MGS for a month straight... doesn't help.

7/10 so far... the graphics & destructable environment is unbelievabley good. (y)

i bought tomb raider legends for $30...it's mostly really cool, it's everything tomb raider should have been, except...it's so hilariously short. i beat it in probably about 4-5 hours. and it ends abruptly, too. even at $30, i feel a little gypped. i'd say rent it.

haven't had enough time to play my X-box so, I've been playing my PSP whenever I get time.

I've been playing Monster Hunter Freedom for PSP and it's a fun game. Taking contracts to kill monsters or going on gathering hunts. Upgrading weapons, typical rpg stuff.

I'm going to have to buy it for a main console.

hopefully you mean unrealistic as in too much ammo. Of course they do make magazines to hold that ammount of rounds but as far as actually carrying one around is slim to none.

Standard load on a m-16 and m-4 is just 30 rounds.

But yeah, it's a video game.

i have a nerdy question, while we're talking about M16s. they aren't fully automatic, right? i know in vietnam they were, but the M16A2 only has single and burst fire, right? every now and then i see a game with a full auto M16, and it bothers me, because even i know they're not supposed to do that.

or has that changed recently?

In Vietnam, the m-16 model then was the A-1 which was fully automatic. Believe it or not, the toy company Hasbro made most of those models.

In the early 80's the m-16 A-1 production has been discontinued and the A2 began production and yeah it has single and 3 round burst.

If on the game, you see an m-16, look at the handguard. If it's got ridges on the handguard and it's firing fully auto then it's not right.

If the handguard is smooth with no ridges, then it's an A-1 and it should be firing full auto. They do have a single shot mode too.

I've been playing Smackdown vs Raw 2006 ever since whatsherface got it for my birthday. It, quite literally, is that crack.

Hell yeah, it's that crack. I'm hooked. I've been spending most of my time updating the roster; I still got 17 more wrestlers to go. I also created two CAWs of myself, one as a heel (Tha Puerto Rican), and one as a face (The Lightning Kid).

I've been trying to do good Beastie Boys CAWs, but I'm not so good at it. Can you create Mike D, Adrock, and MCA?

I'm having withdrawls. I don't have TV anymore, nor do I have my ps2. The PC games I borrowed from a friend I had to return and a while ago another game was taken away from me.

I have nothing but emulators to keep me company. Which is fine except I still need to buy that USB controller.

I'm surprised I'm not foaming at the mouth or dead by now.

SCUMMvm surely helped me trough some rainy days. Recently finished Beneath a Steel Sky and Flight Of The Amazone Queen on it.

Broken Sword 1 is also a personal favourite. Next to DoTT, Indiana Jones & The Fate Of Atlantis and the Monkey Island series.

yeah that's where i'm coming from. but it does help in the game. it's just a little bit . the gun is also an M4 but they call it an M16 hence why i put it in the brackets.

so why does scarface's m16 have full-automatic burst? i'm guessing that's an A2 with the M203? or is it just movie magic ;)?
