The thing is, at least in the Swedish Larson, that they recycle the material a lot. Because he stopped making new material a while ago.

But yeah a lot of it wasn't funny at all.

A few of his cartoons are devoid of the funny, but 95% of them are pure gold. Gold, I say!

Susan, you strayed from the path - I'm willing to forget about this if you are. Let's never mention this again (y)

It's like Seinfeld. It was funny in its time but it's sort of been mimicked lots. Plus, it had its run and so its style is a little stale or dated now. But I did enjoy it for a long time and I still have some favorites stuck in my head.

oooh i love gary larson. my favorite thing to do when i was a kid was to get lost in my far side books collection. I love how everyone was fat, bespeckled and had a cowlick - even the superheroes looked like they were named ralph.

gary larson is an alumni of my college. I think his work is clever and funny. and that's just one more thing Zorra and I don't agree on.:)

you beat me to it. i was gonna say "i'd like to see YOUR far side"

although in retrospect that sounds like a sexual innuendo, which i wasn't going for at all. i guess it's better that you did it first.

I don't think Marmaduke is funny. But then - who does?

at all. and lots of people do.

I don't rate his books or calenders, but I did see a collection of his animated shorts, and some of them were hilarious, in a monged sort of way.

Once you give your eyes a little rest from 12 hours per day internet use reread it again. You'll find it hilarious. Let me know!

If you can't find "when potatoe salad goes bad" funny, you are not human.

Wow. The Far Side was one of the best comic strips ever.

That period was gold -- we had Calvin and Hobbes, The Far Side, and Bloom County all at the same time.

God loved us, then.

Larson's sense of humor was unmatched. It was hilarious to see two bears walking through the woods, one saying to the other, "Hey, Murray, Gladys and I were wondering if you and Marge would like to come by the house Friday night."

My favorite one is the little fat kid that has a stack of books under his arm and he's trying to get in this door by pushing on it when the damned sign clearly says 'Pull'.

A big sign in the grass next to the door says 'School for the Gifted'.

I love that one.

I almost cried when Whatshisface stopped doing Calvin and Hobbes.

I liked Calvin and Hobbes because Waterson was able to reach back and remember exactly what it was like to be a little kid, even though he was a full grown man when he did the cartoon.

There are so many Calvin and Hobbes cartoons that I've read where I yelled, "OMG!! I did that when I was six, too!!"

Waterson would nail right on the head everytime.

I found that Calvin and Hobbes could get a bit too sentimental sometimes.
