i wouldn't play $3000 for a snowboard, what the hell would anyone want a purse, or shoes that cost that?

i never understood the big attraction with LV. I guess it's like a status symbol or something.

Ooooh you had to defend it! AH HAH! Have you noticed how chavs don't actually admit to being chavs? Huh zorra? Or should I say... zorranella_chifchardonnay?

you are more likely to be mugged if you have one of those high dollar bags. It's not for me. I'd rather have several different bags than carry the same one for years.

No, Burberry is just as bad.
Ditto Prada.

Zorra, the only thing that could possibly make your Burberry makeup purse any better would be if were to catch fire.

(If it does happen to catch fire, could you photograph it and post it in Sureshots? thanks)

That's pretty much what I was thinking.

And Prada is very high in quality, mp. The same isn't necessarily true for all designer labels.

But in the UK, Prada is the new chav. Burberry is so last year, all the chav scum are wearing Prada now.

US and Canadian rules do not apply in this case (apart from Louis Vuitton, they suck all over the globe)

i knew mickill would turn up in this thread. yes, i am stalking you.

you get what you pay for and i dig quality.

just because something is expensive doesn't mean you carry the same bag around for years on end. i <3 coach and have about 12 bags to choose from over the years. i love the classics.

I don't think quality is really the issue here. It's that certain high end brands suck big sweaty balls, and gullible fools with too much spare cash are just fuelling the problem.

I just remembered that I'm wearing Pasha by Prada right now.

kll is so so creepy.

overly branded stuff is just nasty

i still think prada is fairly classy tho, probs because they don't emblazon their products with the logo

mrs marsdaddy's fav diaper bag is from Burberry.

I paid too much for a couple of shirts and now I'm waiting for the dry cleaner to ruin them so I can not feel so bad about doing it myself.

Classics are available from any brand, but fashion is overrated.

Not having big logos over everything can only be a good thing. I'm just bitter because I can't afford Prada:o
Besides, I'm more of a Howies kinda person.

I bet it felt good to finally admit that, huh? I can't afford to spend much on anything these days. Babies and mortgages can really hurt your wardrobe.

I say: Craftsmanship and materials can only be so good beyond which the quality of the improvements would be of such miniscule increments as to exist beyond the grasp of my appreciation. If you slip a pea under my mattresses I'm going to get a solid 8 hours but...okay I admit, I'll be embarrassed when I wake up if anyone sees it. I will grant that there is a difference in style and quality worthy of a price tag, up to a point. There are lower priced brands than LV and Prada that are of perfectly decent quality. It's trashy to go around with trash but it's certainly not classy to conspicuously consume.

I agree.

Hugo Boss is a good example of something that's generally bad quality, and overpriced.

Banana Republic is a decent compromise.

This (http://www.georgetown.edu/faculty/irvinem/visualarts/Image-Library/Murakami/Murakami-Vuitton-handbag-2003.jpg) is NOT visually appealing to the eye. It looks like something a 5-year-old would do. A bunch of mismatched shapes and colors. Plus, a tan handle and black bottom? You're going to pay a semester's worth of tuition for THAT?

Seriously. I can appreciate some designer bags, but I do NOT know how this man is making money. He has no talent. Who decides whether or not it's chic? I'd like to kick them in the nuts. It reminds me of that one line in Zoolander. "Right now, this guy is so hot he can take a crap, wrap it in tin foil, put a couple of fish hooks on it and sell it to Queen Elizabeth as earrings."

Well, he's not making money anymore. And his talent died along with his body in the 1800s, so he really had nothing to do with the multicolor monograms.
