We've got one of the biggest IKEA's in all of America in College Park, MD. It's so big they've got a cafeteria and a cafe in there. Their Swedish meatballs are amazing.

I got a coffee table and 4 chairs there for $100. And there's a sweet glass coffee table there for $30 that I want but my brother's being a douche and says he doesn't want. Whatever.

Omg I'm such a Ikea whore! Seriously, it's my Disneyland.

Ok, so you can't find heirloom furniture pieces that you may hand down to your grandchildren there, but fuck, for a tiny chunk o change you can get a super dope chair?! Sure it may fall apart in 2 years, but you'll be sick of it by then anyhow. Haha, my desk I'm at right now is from Ikea... oh shit and the chair I'm on... and.... I'll stop right thurr. :o

Phew! Lucky you! Ikea is super mega (y) .... whereas... Wal-Mart is super mega (n) You have kids doncha? Omg, if I ever have kids someday, they will have so much Ikea shit they won't know what to do with it. Yeah, you can even take your kids to Ikea and there's like play stuff for them there. Ok, I need to leave this thread now.

At one of the UK Ikea stores they had a special offer on leather sofas for £49. There was a riot outside the store:D

Wow, you really must be deep in The Sticks if you don't know Ikea!

I heart Ikea. Although their Elizabeth NJ store is a bit crap on the service.

We have an IKEA and it's about a 30-minute highway drive from where I live. A good friend of mine :) works near one, so every now and then when I visit him at work, I MIGHT go to the IKEA. Usually only if I need a lamp.

Ikea is shit. You get ass there.Yeah, most of the furniture is awfully cheap in terms of quality and price. The good thing about it, though, is because it's cheap, it tends to be made of wood like pine, which is lightweight and which can be moved easily by people like me who do not have much upper-body strength.

About 10 years ago, I bought a loft system there for my kid. The assembly booklet was fatter than some of the texts that I'm using this term. :) But I got it together and it's still in his room and in one piece. Queen-sized bed, ladder, desk beneath. It does the job and is a favorite hiding and sleeping place for my cat.

If you need a quality coffee table, tracky, maybe try the yard/estate sales. You might find something that'll be more interesting, of better quality, and probably less expensive.

My bus to work goes past IKEA as well.
They started a sale here again and they had specially open night for Family card holders. There was a bookshelf for SEK 299,- (ord. 899,- except the add said 999,-) that's like 42 US$, coffee cups for 2,-. I was gonna go there again (did the same just a few months ago), but then I got offered a ticket to Hultsfred festival for 1000,- (ord. 1399,-) and had to meet up with the guy...
At my work there's millions of stuff from IKEA, it's colourful and cheap. Sometimes I'm a bit doubtful because it is so cheap, but what I know they give work to so many people in the "poorer" countries. And Ivar Kamprad was the worlds welthieth man last year (or was it the year before), beating Bill Gates.

walking around ikea with steger, eating at the cafeteria and saying "this would look good in our apartment, wouldn't it?" while holding hands = hot date

I don't entirely agree. Yes and no. Yes, in that you can get things that are quite inexpensive and indeed sometimes 'you get waht you pay for' in terms of its durability. However, a lot of Ikea's range, although cheap in terms of materials and construction, is actually quite ingeniously designed. I have several things I've had from them for years and years now - a fantastic 4-tiered plant stand that I love, a hammered metal standing clock, our Nikaolas shelves, lovely little throw pillows with drawings of people on them that remind me of cave paintings, etc.

Also, we use Ikea kitchens for all of our properties, as they are fabulous for rentals - if something gets broken, replace the component. Not that they get broken often, but it means that it's easy to swap different units in and out without having to redo everything, so each tiem a tenant moves in it can potetnially look like a brand new kitchen when effectively all we've done is maybe replaced a few cabinet doors. Mr.p has spent so much time at the kitchen department at one Ikea that people who work there think he works for the company (they seems to think he is someone from head office sent to check up on them, LOL).

and rightfully so!

Man the other weekend I purchased a ton of lanterns and hung them in the trees in the backyard. Lit the candles and it gave me so much joy to sit out back and stare at them.

OH and speaking of the kitchens there... pff, man I will be purchasing my kitchen cabinets there, hopefully real soon. I design custom cabinetry for high end homes and cannot afford that for myself. I've shopped all over and for the design and price... sheesh, you can't go wrong. I've even used their online program, the 3D kitchen designer, it's so much fun.
