Occurs at the hair salon.

I have a haircut appointment in about a half hour, and I'm racking my brain to come up with topics of conversation to fill the 45 minutes of alone time I'll have with my hairdresser...

I got nothin'. :(

I understand and sympathize.

My friend has the best excuse for this since he's nearly totally deaf. Comes in handy sometimes.

For about 3-4 years, I went to this guy who was intelligent and conversed so well and I actually enjoyed it all for that reason alone. But he wound up opening up his own salon and started charging way, way too much for the kind of cut that I get--which is basically just a trim on the ends. $70 for that is (n) even if the conversation is great.

She knew my boss and almost sold her house through our company.

So I'm sure the conversation will revolve around the real estate market and the fact that my boss just died of cancer.

Can't wait.

i dont like them to talk when they are cutting on my hair. they need to pay attention to what they are doing and not dilly dally around with trivial conversations. the last haircut i had was the worst hour and a fukkin half of blah blah bullshit by this woman who cant stand not to babble.

Real estate and cancer. Yikes.

I am waiting for an animal-of-some-sort roast to start at a friend's of a friend's house. Technically, it started already, but everyone is much more easy-going after they've had a couple of hours of drinking underway. Conversation is much easier and it's generally loads more fun to watch them then. :)

Usually when they try to make conversation I just reply with "yeah" and "no" and they'll know whats up after like 30 seconds and then we're both just quiet for the rest of the haircut.

I like to talk to cabdrivers though. I always take the seat in the front if I take a cab by myself

Chatty hairdresses are one of the reasons I cut my own hair. I hate gossiping and they are the worst! A couple of times I've gone to the hairdresses next door (important appointments, when I burnt my hair on a candle by the bathtub) and the first times I chatted with her, but it felt so aqward (sp?) so I just tell her what to do and then shut up.

I love cutting my own hair, its a lil tricker now with the short bob and bangs but its pretty easy
It wasnt even that scary choppin off afoot and a half or so of hair at once and adding bangs back in the day either

Ive been to a hairdresser once, cause I was maid of honor and thought I should get something a lil more professional
the bitch called my then long hair "broomy"

I had this friend last year who agreed with you so much - he proposed this theory that barber shops should have the option of getting a "talking" or "no talking" haircut.

I indulged him with this quick chop.

My sister says that somewhere near her is a barbers / hairdressers whose sign says "Haircut only, no talking"! They're quick and cheap.

I always let the barber lead the conversation and ask questions, then just respond and wow them with knowledge.

Ask her if she'd like to count to 162,000 together with you.
