Why are ya just rippin' on batman? Superman, hulk, punisher, I name off almost Every DC or Marvel 'good guy' and they can be called vigilante also.
You have to put it in social context though - Batman was living in a city with corrupt politicians, police on the take, and mob bosses that law enforcement were useless against!
Batman doesn't kill people anyways, think of it as citizen's arrest.

Now there's a good matchup. I think it'd probably be Punisher, just because he'd be less concerned about seriously hurting Batman. Then again, short of killing him, Batman would do about anything.
Where they fought would be key. Punisher is all about improvisation and strategy...Batman seems to be more about preparation.

did you like that last batman movie? i enjoyed it, and i think christian bale did a good job in that role. thank god they let christopher nolan direct it.

they just added the whole ninja deal recently to make batman more cool (and he still pussed out of the ninja club), which is impossible cause batman is lame (he's a rich guy with a belt).
Superman can fly, reverse time, and deflect bullets....that's way cooler.
that being said, we all know Yoda is cooler than them both

Yes. Bale was perfect as the Dark Knight. And the story was excellent. True to the spirit of the best graphic novels.

Uh, no. Read the comics. The ninja thing isn't new. Read an entry about ninjas in any encyclopedia and then read a Batman comic.

Hell yeah! Garth Ennis Punisher is the shite. My ex-ex girlfriend once bought me a Punisher hardback for my birthday. She always gave the best presents.
Then there was the time Punisher shot wolverine in the face with a shotgun, and then ran over him with a steamroller.
yeah, i haven't read nearly as many punisher comics as i'd like to, but from what i have seen, the garth ennis ones are the best. i like the gritty realistic style better than the spandex and high tech gadgets style.
i read a nick fury comic by garth ennis too (actually it's the only nick fury comic i've ever read so i guess i have no frame of reference) and it ruled. there's a part where he disembowels a guy and chokes him to death with his own intestines.
